Header Experiences (Shorty)

I've done some digging and am just not seeing a whole lot in terms of headers...dynos, track...even butt-meter for shorty headers. Appears to be a reasonable invenstment. ANy hard data such as before and after track or dyno numbers? I'd even ike to hear SOTP expereinces if that's all ya got.

How about install? Any caveats? Did anyone have to take motor mounts or any other parts off to get shorties in? Is EC really the only game on this?

For the price, EC is the only game on this. You don't need to do much if you are keeping your primary cats. Take the old one off and put new ones on. Change the some little old hardware (nuts and bolts and things) while you are at it. With the header and all my other mods I got to 12.52 1/4 mile last November. Don't have any "before" numbers.

Chris,
stop wasting your money by going fishing with the Jersey boys and install your headers while the car is still running. You'll love it.

Yeah, I have to call your guy and get it done. Every time I look at them sitting there, it pains me. I promised myself I would install them before the end of summer. Hopefully, this month!

the butt dyno didn't really feel that big of a difference except in the upper end of the power band. You can feel it more toward the top half of mid and top half of the rpm band. So i would say around 4000rpm +. Other then that, no really difference if your already running a 185.

doesn't AMS have shorty headers for the c32 or just for the m113?

Given your current modifications, a pair of shortys will likely produce a worthwhile incremental improvement.

Have LET’s first generation pipes on mine. Certain they were Erick’s (1FASTC32) first production pair, as their flanges are stamped “#1.”
Straightforward installation, i.e., no time-consuming ancillary motor mount or steering linkage challenges required. Haven’t kept abreast of other manufacturers’ direct replacement exhaust manifold hardware developments, though.

True headers will invariably produce larger gains, but they don’t comply with the spirit of most US-registered highway machines’ requirements. No tree hugger or green freak here…just wouldn’t wish my asthma on anyone. Owing to California’s draconian biennial visual and treadmill tailpipe sniffer inspections, they were never given much consideration.

Picked up an honest tenth and a mph (recording virtually identical 60’ times) at our local eighth mile 'strip during subsequent visits -with absolutely no other changes- while running under similar atmospheric conditions.
Only you can decide if a car length or two against the gent running alongside is an appropriate ROI.
