C55 tick normal operation??

Hey everyone, I'm new, I just bought a Mars Red 06 C55. When I bought it I noticed a ticking sound. It's very noticeable. Because I could make it go away by revving up a bit, and because it is still under warranty, I decided to just fix it when I got it home. I bought the car in Atlanta and drove it back to Ohio. When I took it to the dealer they said the tick is coming from a purge valve, and this was considered normal operation by MB. My service adviser said the valve has a rubber mount to help with the noise, but it will always make that sound. My question to you folks is do your cars make this sound? It's almost like a lifter, but it goes away. It comes back any time I idle, not just when the car is cold. Should I take it back and tell them to replace the valve anyway? Thanks in advance for your help!

The dealer is lying - its is the lifters and is a known carbon build up problem. Check the oil with the computer and you'll see its low. You may also have them test the oil sensor to make sure it works! I hear the ticking when it's about 2l low... After checking oil and filling (don't overfill) and ticking still persists. Drive it like you stole it as there are carbon deposits in the lifters not allowing them to fully pump. It should go away with the two methods above.

How could I tell for sure if it's the lifters? I always thought if it increased with engine speed it's a lifter, if it goes away it's not... I can't tell for the life of me where it comes from. Maybe they can't either... Could I remove the valve covers and look for damage?

can we agree whatever it is, it should be fixed while it's still under warranty?

Do an italian tune up when your oil level is full and see if that helps. I eat a lot of oil because I drive it like its meant to be but i don't get any ticking...just kind of high oil consumption.

I also have the same annoying ticking sound. Especially while sitting or creeping in freeway gridlock.

I actually noticed a slight ticking sound recently, it isn't very loud at all but I figure I'll get them to look at it before I go out of warranty. What annoys me more is that damn whining sound on start up.
