LOL I looked for a while for a high res pic of "One Crazy Summer" Finding that would be like me my girl not arguing with me*. Its just not going to happen. I guess I could have made it, but my redbull is wearing off.

*for the record.... she only yells at me when I forget to do something, like close a cabnit, make a mess.. Those sort of things.

Do these headers work like the AMG 63 ones you developed where they are in true firing order, and a vacuum is created in the corresponding port of the firing sequence to help scavenging the exhaust from the next corresponding firing cylinder?

If not are you planning on making a set like that for the AMG 55?

Whats the approximate gains in hp? Around 40+hp right? If not what is the approximate gains of the current setup?

i believe they do.

my question is what other mods do you have to do to your exhaust system in order to install these?

You don't offer any cats or pipes to connect these to the factory cat-back connection point do you?

I'll have to swing by Dyno-Comp and check it out for myself.

Interesting question in regards to headers... after seeing your post for the SL AMG crowd in regards to titanium exhaust and mufflers... I was thinking about your headers, if they were made from titanium they would save weight in the front on the car and look cool because it changes colors when heated up... my only question is can titanium take that kind of heat and would it generate any more or less heat in the engine bay? And yes they would cost allot more... but if it can save enough weight and generate less engine bay heat it might be worth it... would they need to beat coated with a clear hi-heat coating to reduce the heat... etc...

What would be the advantages and disadvantages of making the headers out of titanium? Any others you can think of? Whats your thoughts?

Advantages:
-Lighter weight
-Color change effect

Disadvantages:
-Higher cost

Example of color change:
Heated (left) and Cooled (right) effect

header's dont weigh that much in general...i think the weight savings is not going to outweigh the additional cost of titanium headers. Plus, our engine bays are so cramped you can barely see the headers. I can only see like the 3/4 runners of my kleemanns when I pop the hood.

Titanium are not a good choice for headers, Titanium cannot be mandrel bent and for that reason it has to be cut-welded in order to make turns which is not good for airflow (especially on headers), Weight savings are marginal at best and honestly not worth the additional cost as Hooley stated. Furthermore, titanium has terrible sound properties...

You can run higher grade stainless (409, etc) but costs will go up significantly as well. There's always a compromise of some kind..... that's life.

Interesting? we make mandrel bent Titanium lines for aircraft all the time. But I do agree with the price and weight savings would not be worth it.

Well, so few mandrel benders can do it, it requires extremely powerful mandrel benders, certainly none for automotive application. Automotive titanium exhausts always use cut-welded curves for this reason. I'm sure there are lots of things available in the aircraft industry, but its simply not economically viable for automotive use. Nonetheless, its not a good choice for headers exhaust manifolds for automobiles. Stainless Steel is still the best choice for that.
