Just bought a c55

Hey everyone I finally got one last night. I picked this one up by D.C. I am really happy with it besides a few minor flaws. The steering wheel doesnt adjust up or down and there was a small oil leak by one of the gaskets. I found out the bolts were loose and i tightened it and everything seems great so far. I got it for $17,5. . has xenons, navi, hk system. 49k

I got a couple pics today.

That's a great deal figuring the low mileage and two most sought after packages of Comand and Bixenon. Congratulations, welcome to the club.

congrats!

I fear reading threads like this. I always think someone is going to show up with my old C55 that was totaled and then rebuilt.

Very nice! Definately a good price. Appears to be Pewter Metallic, no? I wish I could have found one in that color.

I believe that is usually a little plastic "dog bone" in the adjustment mechanism that is broken. I'm not sure if there is a tutorial on how to replace it or not. The part is like $5.

I believe that will only be a matter of time. Someone will buy it and not care about the damage.

Congrats and welcome aboard!! If it were a C32 I'd tell you its modding time BUT since its not, you can do a res delete and headers!! Dont waste your money on a tune for the C55, I haven't seen one yet that works!!

Can you please dyno before and after? No one does this and it drives me nuts. Use the exact same dyno and change nothing but the tune. If they promised take both videos and data sheets and get your money back. Also, get that promise in writing, because thats a huge gain for a NA motor.

He is right! If you do not need the wheel to move up and down automatically. Turn it off. I've had mine fixed three times under warranty -- two dog bones and one motor. All trim under the steering wheel has to be removed, much of the cladding around the steering wheel, then the mechaism within before the dog bone can be replaced -- 3-4 hour repair job.

I have never seen a C55 tune that works? What parameters for the 5.4 engine are you tuning?? EC did magic on my C32, but then again, that's a FI engine?? Before EC was EC and when it was LET, I never saw a tune on a NA 5.4 that worked, even at the drags at Morrocco, IN??

I'd love for someone to prove me wrong and show some substantial gains through a NA 5.4 tune??

Ok everyone i have a dumb question to ask. I was coming home today and i was being stupid and i revved it while going under a bridge.. I waited and put it back in D and the brakes kicked in so the tires screeched (Also idk if this matters but I had it in manual mode?)? now my check engine light is on? I used to do this all the time in my 240 and it never had a problem?
WTF happened?

You don't know what you did wrong? What you did was pretty stupid. Are you saying that you put your car in neutral while moving, just to rev it? You do understand that that most likely was not the brakes engaging, that was your transmission slamming into gear at a different rate than your axle/diff/tires were spinning at. Pray everything is ok, the engine and transmission in this car is not cheap. I think the best part is when you said you used to do this all the time.

MBfinatic, your transmission is automatic, not manual. Think about it this way (this is only for illustration purposes): imagine you have a circular cog gear that is spinning extremely fast (5000 rpm fast if you can picture that), imagine that you then take a separate circular cog gear that is motionless, and, while the first gear is still spinning at full speed, you drop the motionless gear onto the spinning gear in an attempt to sync the teeth of the two gears. The motionless gear hits the spinning gear with such force, that the spinning gear skips, grinds, and slows its revolutions (in a matter of nanoseconds) until the teeth of both gears can connect.

Now realize that this is not dissimilar to what happens to your transmission every time you are moving in your vehicle and you switch from neutral to 'Drive'.

This is what I always picture in my mind when I ever think about messing around with the transmission shifter while moving (except for using the automanual of course).
