MY NEW CUSTOM INTAKE...COMMENTS? QUESTIONS?

Ok so I made this from TVT pipes, E55 splitter and high flow spectre filter airboxes. Let me know what you guys think. I can feel the power and throttle response.

DIY is really easy...replace the stock splitter with the 55 splitter, TVT's may be hard to find since I don't think they're made anymore but I had to cut these to allow for the larger filters so you may be able to fab some from 3" aluminum tubing. I removed the front of the airbox covers and installed them "open". I found them cheap on eBay since they were previously installed on a show car but were in like new condition shipped for $100. They usually run $75-$80 a piece for the larger ones. Let me know if you have any other questions. Total cost around $250 or so. Thanks!

a land yacht.
Looks interesting. I think it may be more beneficial to have a hose that leads up to the filters to direct all the air to them that way there is no air loss in the engine bay. More info on those filter boxes! or the boxes where on the old set up the filters used to be. those look pretty cool...

I'm working on enclosing the whole setup but I need 5" silicone piping to do it. Just look on the spectre website. They come in two different sizes these are the larger ones. I was going to buy the smaller ones initially but got these at a great price soooo....

I bet you can really hear the supercharger whine now.. I did a similar intake on my E55 and it is very loud now and im sure I gained some power.

Looks like a lot of heated, underhood air...not ideal on a FI Car.

Not really...the filter openings are right behind the stock ram air openings and I can't notice any difference once the engine is at operating temps.

yah...you may pick up some more hot air. if you don't fully enclose those or at least put some kind of heat shield around it, it may lose you power (b/c of higher IATs). if you can, i would monitor your IATs if you can still put on your old setup and see what kind of temp differences you see under similar weather and driving conditions.

i enjoy the ingenuity, though. always nice to see a decent looking DIY

Both of your filters are exposed, right behind the radiator... Ideally, you would want cool, dense air entering your intake. If you could duct both inlets from before the core support to the filters, and bypass the underhood air...then you would have something.

Looks good! While stopped and at low speeds I can see this taking in some warmer engine bay air, but otherwise it should have plenty of direct cool air. Looks like it shouldn't take much more to make it a sealed system.

Looks very nice.. great DIY job.

I've contemplated getting rid of my Code3 Intake due to hot air intake .. I think it's why that area of my hood is steaming a bit sometimes which doesn't look all that attractive.

Are you sure it's from TVT? It looks just like the Eurocharged C32 dual intake.

When you say air boxes, are talking about the filter housings or the tubes that are in place of the stock air boxes? I was referring to the tubes that are in place of the air boxes. Those are TVT?
