Just Installed Trickle Charger on all Three AMGs

Here's a shot of the Maintainer/Trickle Charger I just installed. I hooked em up permanently to the battery with the supplied leads. Just plug into outlet and its giving it 1.5 AMPs of go juice and it only uses 18 watts total. Two prong outlet too!! Totally computer controlled so no need to worry about over charging the battery. Model # is SEM-1562 A Works on both 6 and 12 volts and motorcycles , tractors etc etc. Must have for long sitting vehicles and those in cold weather climes.

I guess I haven't been paying much attention. When did Stevie make a reappearance? Has the sock been washed recently?

I've been starting mine once a week and letting it run until it gets to normal operating temperature. The addition of a trickle charger is a good idea to avoid alternator and battery issues. If you're the **** type and are concerned about preventative maintenance you may want to consider changing your voltage regulator: https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...hop-error.html

+1, good point!! I decided to go with a trickle since my ML 55 burned through an alternator because my battery was always low and the alternator was literally working overtime. I put it on all three and its so simple.......

and yes, the sock's been washed ^^^

Interesting.....You install it and leave in the vehicle? Im assuming it stores a charge as you drive ....or something. This would really help me out during this German winter......Hows it work?

Good idea. I have used trickle chargers on my motorcycles for years and some of them are pretty sophisticated. They simulate a driving load condition in that they let the battery level go up and down but always keep it over 80%. It's important to match up the volts/amps of the charger to the particular battery in your car. I have used "Deltran" brand over many years and have had good success, though any other brand would work as well.

the trickle charger sits on the bench while the car is parked. there are a set of leads that have a plug end that is attached to the battery. simply plug the end into the charger when you park the car and plug it in.
im going to guess you will need a unit speced for euro current

The charger itself is a small box BUT the leads are quick disconnect, so its easy to just pop the hood and plug it in without removing the battery box cover aka, filter, and you just use a two prong to plug it in to an outlet. (germans will need converter) IN IL the batteries discharge very quickly this time of year. Only use 18 Watts so draw is negligible.

I have a house brand Canadian Tire Motomaster charger with a 2 amp trickle /maintainer charge. The current is not enough for the trickle/maintain function to work correctly in the Benz. I get an error code and the unit shuts off. Now using a Ctek 3300 and it's working as it should.
