Final phase of C55 SC project finally started

The car is now at Dynocomp for the final phase of the project to max out the boost to 14psi from the current 5psi along with longtube headers. A nitrous kit will also be installed.

Richard will install a RAT that allows me to switch from one map to another with a toggle switch. I can run 109 Nitrous,100,91 or CA emmisions map.

The tranny was previously upgraded to Maybach guard specs and the compression was lowered to 9:1 so drivetrain and motor can take the additional planned power.

Dyno and road tuning alone will take several weeks.

I also plan to drop at least 400 lbs through carbon fiber or fiberglass hood, fendors and lighter wheels, seats and interior.

Car is scheduled to be completed in another 3-4 weeks.

I’ve been working with a trainer to lose 20 pounds by Memorial Day. Let us know when you're able to catch up at Willow Springs. :y

For the average male, it takes a calorie burn of 3000 to lose one lb of fat. So, you've gotta burn at least 60,000 calories over and above what you burn naturally and ABOVE what you eat daily to lose that!!! Do like I do and run!!! A good run can burn 1000 calories an hour.

Are you planning on running 14 psi though the autorotor?? I thought max for that was about 10 (+ or - a few)??

Sounds to me like a Quaife and drags and you're ready to go!!

Your worst nightmare...
I don't know if you will be able to drop 400 pounds on that car...at most half that. You would have to do some drastic changes which will then turn your car into a track car. Best of luck and can't wait to see it in action.

The autorotor 2.X SC's are good for up to 14psi before they reach the limit of efficiency. A larger 2.6litre Kenne Bell autorotor can be boosted up to 26-28psi before losing efficiency.

The Quaife was one of the very first mods I did back in 2007 believe but it does not really help with quarter mile ETs or traps but is great around the track.

My brand new Quaife is still in the box waiting for nice weather so I can take the S7 out

Most of the guys I know running autorotors are running between 8-10 lbs max. But if you say it'll take 14, I'll go with that?? At 14 isn't there fuel delivery issues then??

The reason they are only running 8-10 lbs max is because of the high compression ratio of the motor and how risky it is to run too much boost. The other reason is that if the SC pulley is too small, the belt will start to slip unless an extreme wrap bracket and guide pulley is installed or an 8 rib pulley system.
I am combining a smaller 65mm SC pulley with extreme wrap with a larger 170mm crank pulley (stock is 150mm) to get the boost up. The limitation is the CR not the SC.

As for the fuel issues, that is why Dynocomp will custom tune it for 3 weeks and use the appropriately sized injectors and maybe an even larger fuel pump.

OK, so where can I get me one of these 65 MM pulleys (EC or Dynocomp) for the autorotor?? I'll stick with the stock cranker. I am wondering how small I can go on the Kleemann SC pulley before belt slippage becomes an issue.

Cant you just reduce the CR by raising the heads with gaskets??

Sounds good, best f luck.

Are you going to fit an LSD to handle that extra power? as it is the c55 strugles for traction...

A thicker head gasket is a bad idea according to all the expert tuners I spoke to. The dispersion of the gas vapors will be very uneven and will cause detonation.

Do you have the Eaton or Autorotor SC? Both are very good blowers. I would not run with a 65mm pulley even if you put the extreme wrap on it unless you find a way to lower the compression or else the engine life would be drastically shortened.

The Quaife is an LSD.. Traction is not really an issue compared to the power the modified 55k, 63 or 65TT cars. Besides the LSD, I also have 8 adjustible control arms and the KMAC caster kit in the suspension which helps traction as well.
