07 SLK55 Steering Wheel...will it fit?

Does anybody know if it fits? Searched and couldn't find a definitive answer.

Ruben65 says you can (post 3):

https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...sion-done.html

Has anyone actually done it? From pictures, it looks identical to our wheel, save for the paddles, which are what I'm after.

Thanks,
Matt

Also, how about that SLK55 Black Series shift knob? And if so, how would I go about getting my grubby paws on one?

pm me and I'll give you contact info for someone that can do the conversion in LA if the wheel doesn't fit.

Well damn! I knew it would be absurd but sheesh...

I'm pretty crazy, but I think $500 is where I draw the line for a shift knob...particularly one with no discernible difference other than a little badge on top.

FYI everyone...the 07 SLK55 steering wheel is part no. A17146053039E37.

Per my parts source, $2100 list price...$1475 for me (5% over cost).

That's a lot for some buttons...we'll see. Good news is, several SLK guys have done the swap from 05/06 to the updated 07 with paddles and it is easy as apple pie to switch out. Direct replacement.

Now I just need to figure out if SLK55 steering wheels are the same as C55 steering wheels. Back to the interwebs!!

I just don't know how I feel about a sticker. But for that price, I suppose there's no harm in trying!

The Brabus shift knob just isn't my style. But I agree...$800 is absolutely ludicrous.

I think if I end up with anything, it will probably be the shift knob from a W203 C230/350 sport. Looks infinitely better than the C55 knob imo.

here are my paddles. yea matt i agree with you 100% about the knob. my story with my paddles are this: there was a member on here who returned his c55 due to the transmission issue so he needed to be all original and he did his steering wheel mod himself and it's perfect. i gave him $300 and he took my original steering wheel and we did the swap in the TGI fridays parking lot in La Jolla CA. i know someone with the coolest sl55 in the world (no joke) who can do the job.

Steering wheel from SLK55 is exactly the same as in C55
I know this because I installed a Designo steering wheel from SLK into my last car

Very nice! Is the shifter designo as well? Do you happen to have a part number for that?

In case anyone ever noticed, the round silver buttons on the stock 05+ C-class steering wheels actually match the dash radio layout of the SLK, not the black square buttons of the C-dash.

Hey no problem! Some last words, it does NOT hit against my legs during sharp turns because it's not that wide. Call me crazy, but I personally believe that I can get a few extra $ than normal when I sell my car because of the condition it's in and because of what I've done to it.i got 6k over blue book on my x5 when I sold it for the same reason.

I'm not sure what the big deal is with the paddles. Is it really worth over $1,000 for the "look"? They don't help the car go any faster. Like I mentioned in another thread, the shifters (even buttons) are pretty useless since this car has such wide gearing, and the shifts so slow. Your best option is to just mash the gas and go.
