Adjustable shock options.

I'm noticing the shocks on the front of my car are getting worn and need replacment. I wanted to replace them with adjustable shocks to go with my H&R springs. Where can I get just the shocks? I've seen coilover kits but I only need the shocks as the springs are still fairly new. Anyone know where I can get a set?

just go coilovers dont waste money on shocks, best set would be bilstein pss9 or kw v2, look at classifieds.

What do u want to adjust, height and rebound settings, most coilovers will have springs with them, you buy can Koni yellows but it only lets you adjust rebound settings but not height.

i was looking for something with simple compression/rebound adjustment. the car is already lowered and im completely happy with the height. i just would like to add a little ride control. i dont need a full adjustable setup.

koni yellows for w203 would be ur best bet, thing is, $200-$300 more you can get used coilovers would be much better for our cars.

like this guy selling h&r coilovers for w203 which would work with c32 amg $860 shipped.

another guy selling same thing for $800 shipped.

If you read some of the previous suspension threads about H&R springs and what shocks to run, there was a long discussion about how the C55 AMG struts from the dealer are stiffer than even KONI's in their stiffest rebound setting. The H&R springs are also too short. There isn't enough travel in them. You will bottom out a lot unless you get some really stiff dampers. I suggest the C55 front struts. They are definitely stiff. I sold my H&R spring setup for this reason. I opted for C55 springs and dampers all around. I couldn't be happier with the setup. I'm so glad I decided to sell the H&R's.

Compression adjustment on a damper isn't really "simple". You won't find that on even most coilovers. The KW V3's have the addition of compression adjustment over the V2's, which only had rebound. Instead of messing around with adjustments, you may consider revalving a set of struts to make them stiffer. That is if you're set of sticking with the H&R's. If you want a car that rides properly, I would ditch the H&R's. Revalving the struts so they're stiff enough that the springs won't bottom out seems like a band aid solution to a problem that should have never existed in the first place. I'll find the link for you. Someone on here was running the C55 dampers with H&R springs with sucess. They even did some track driving too.

Good luck,

Bryan

There you go... a really informative thread. Mainly read over what forum member "Splinter" has to say. I believe he ended up revalving his KONI's and ran a combination of different H&R springs.
