Question about the SL55 Airboxes

Question about the SL55 Airboxes

I drive a c32 and ordered the y-pipe yesterday. i plan on using the stock air bboxes, imi gonna gut them out and put a drop-in K&N in them. From what i know, thats what evosport sells as their package as well, not 100% sure though. Just dont see the need for an airbox made for a supercharged 5.5l v8 motor. Im just seeing if you guys have dynoed the car or maybe bouhg thte y-pipe first and the air boxes later. did you nptice a difference from just the airbbox?

I had the splitter as my very first mod, there was a slightly noticeable difference. Eventually I moved up to the full 55k intake with K&N filters and custom intake tubes. That's when I felt the major difference, especially when the car was tuned for the extra air.

As for "gutting" your C32 boxes...well that makes no sense. You just need to open them and swap out the filters. You'll also need to hack up the original hoses from the C32 splitter to make it work. That or get some high temp tube to bridge the gap and size difference.

there is minimal difference if any with just the splitter. if you don't have the larger 55 boxes, don't expect much of a power gain if any

Dude you can't gut out anything in the C32 airboxes if you plan just a droppin...now if you plan to install larger hoses thru it I understand but still smaller so less air. Search online or thru dealer for parts needed it's not that expensive. It cost money to dyno so honestly do not expect someone to spend hundreds or thousands to test small steps...it would be nice but way to much money. Good luck
