That is my concern also. Is there any place in particular I should look for a 55k engine or just look anywhere? I know I need the ECU AND the wiring harness to make this work? Well to easily make it work..

Finding the ecu is just one step, you would also need eis from the car. The ecu is coded to the vin, so you might be better off buying a wrecked e55 and parting out the rest. You could always get a hold of the guy that's been doing the swaps on crossfire forum. He may be a bit more insightful.

Here is an interesting thread:

It would be awesome if you could swap a clk63 engine into your car. The m156 weighs 439 lbs and I'm sure it would be lighter than the m113k engine, but you may not be able to use the 722 tranny that comes in the c55 and the engine would be much more expensive. Than you could have a c63 that would probably beat new c63's.

I think once the car is boosted (supercharger or turbo) it will be able to either beat or keep up with the new C63's...

Why waste your time and money on 55 motor when you can do this for a fraction of the cost.

http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/e...d_hemi_engine/

Then you could hook up a Kiesler 6 speed t56 and be truely unique.

Kent426 - I'm hearing you brother. LS7 or the option your mentioned would kick azz. But soooo many issues with the mb ecu system(s) plural, and gages, etc.. I do have to admit MB did a pretty good job at corralling adventurous car nuts into very very few options when it comes to moding/tuning/accessing the ecu. A quick search of BMW turbo on u-tube shows many many high HP/TQ turbo 6 banger bmw's..... I'm jealous of what appears to be an easier path to major hp/tq for the bimmer boys.

Rant over..... sorry to hi-jack

Are you able to do any work yourself? 55TT would be uncharted territory and there are kits if you were looking to make your own 55k. Installing an engine would be cheaper than custom fabricating parts, but you also have to factor in the cost of the engine. You could recupe some of the engine cost by selling your engine.

What's the compression on the c55 engine? I was reading that higher compression engines are less reliable when they are boosted.

I have a good shop that can help me out. I would not want to sell my engine but I would prolly have to.

The compression is 11:1.

Well most engine builders hate to recognize the fact the Mopar motors although more expensive than Chevy or Ford always made more power for less overall dollar.

That is what I am trying to convey with this swap. Hell yeah, MB makes great motors but not cheap to make the same power as the entire hot rod field is either geared towards American V8's or Japanese or German 4 and 6's. It is cheaper in my opinion with EFI options, turbo kits, nitrous etc to use a different engine and adapt your dash to it. Your electrical nightmare will probably be less than than trying to adapt the E55 computer, deal with a piggy back fuel and ignition maps etc.

That's ridiculous how much whp that car was making. That would be awesome to have a c55tt with that kind of whp.

Speeking of Speedriven, they're supposed to be doing mockups on an E55 for a TT setup. Hopefully this comes to fruition and can translate to an N/A M113... https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...kg-feeler.html

I would rather stick with either the 55k swap OR the TT kit. Im trying to figure out the price and the effectiveness of each before I decide which one I chose.

That would be great. I think their price will be higher than Kleemann..
