Then the mute button.... I think thats the most convinient place to place it.....just a slight move to the right (of your right hand.....if you usually have it in the shifter) and there it is...

I don't have pics of the wire comming out of the 8500...but they go inside of the rear view mirror and up (can't really see it!). This cable eventually connects to the main module (sits unter the sterring wheel collum area (ie over your knees!) and this to the ZR-3 display (that if you have the 8500 you won't need (so I hide it in the same place. (ie the 8500 will display all the same messages the ZR-3 would....they are inter connected!!)

Thanks!

WOW, and I thought my work of hard wiring the 8500 was a tough task; compare to your marvelous job, it's nothing! Great work, and thanks for posting. By the way, how did you get the wires to go through the firewall from engine bay to interior? Did you have to remove something? THX.

nice

Very nicely done! jcanabal Thanks for the pictures.

I just got mine installed over the weekend. My front transmitters were installed at the same place as yours, the rear transmitter was placed under the rear bumper because it would obstruct the trunk latch if put on the upper license plate, the installer fabricated the bracket for it. The zr3 control unit was concealed in the flip-up ash tray perfectly. Remote mute button was installed on the left side of shifter. 8500 was placed by the right side of rear view mirror.

I'm very pleased with the system and the installation.

If you dont mind me asking, what do these 2 things do?

Is one of them a radar for speed cameras or something?

The 8500 is a radar/laser detector only. The ZR-3 is a Laser "jammer"....ie it blocks the laser gun bean by sending a "disturbing signal back to the cops gun...ie jammed!! so they can't detect my speed!

The installation was done at a shop....it's included in the sale price of the ZR-3....so I don't know exactly how they got inside!
