C32 Power Run

C32 Power Run
I had my 2001 C32 put on the dyno today. I have a full SL55 Intake system. Just would like some advice on the next step to get more power.. I did have it on the dyno before I fitted the intake and it pulled 271bhp at the wheels.. Now I'm Pulling 305bhp..

I doubt the splitter will give you over 30 HP and the consecutive lower runs could be due to heat soak on the engine. Still a strong run for a stock car. Now you need to mod it a bit. SC pulley and/or crank pulley will give some good gains with a tune. Need some cooling mods too, Johnson pump and HE for the SC/IC.

Yeh the last run was poor it dropped out between 2500RPM and 3500RPM. I think my priority is cooling mods now.. Anyone know where i can buy some bits??? I'm in the UK and bits are not available here..

2002 C32 AMG
OAT (outside air temperature), humidity, air pressure (low if its stormy, higher if its clear), tire pressure all contribute to changes in measured horsepower and torque in addition to things others haqve mentioed. It may be that 10 - 15 HP is due to the inlet, and the rest is due to changes in the above. I am in the engineering world, and its often the case that measurement error and changes in test conditions overshadow changes due to hardware differences. It's a pain and takes many, many tests to be able to tease out the "true" numbers.

Again, getting back to your original question. I seriously doubt that 34 HP is due to the intake. Needswings and Rob have done a LOT of testing on the CFM flow on the stock and the mods (SRT-6 particularly) and it wont give you that much HP. A tune and intake may give you 30-40. I can see 10-15 MAX from an intake. The Code 3 (Brandon's) is said to give 6 whp alone in testing.

The dyno man said it was hard to get a good run because of the gear box changing down under hard acceleration. It's a shame someone can't devise a way of locking it in 4th or 3rd gear for a full throttle run.

I can feel more power now with the sl55 intake. Just need to sort some cooling bits out now. Is the johnson pump more efficient or is it that it lasts longer than the Bosch unit??

For cooling you can do the same thing as me, Johnson pump and Eurocharged Heat Exchanger and then to really bump up the cooling power you can order a trunk tank from Shardul and add another 4.5 gallons of liquid to the system with the ability to add ice.
Also talk to Jerry@eurocharged for more information about doing your dyno pulls. He's able to keep mine in 3rd for the whole pull.

Eurocharged has a facility here in Houston, TX. Jerry@eurocharged.com or Clint@eurocharged.com should be able to help you out with anything you need.
