I thought I would pose this question in the W203 forum, as the others are too bias

With the subject cars almost equal in value on the used market in many cases, which would you choose?

C63
+ More sporty
+ More simple then the E63 (No ABC, dynamic seats, etc to break)
+ More compact
+ Better power to weight? Its close...


E63
+ More space
+ Quieter ride
+ Better interior
+ Heated + Cooled Seats
+ More options overall - distronic, dynamic seats, etc
+ More color choices on the used market - interior and exterior

Which would you choose?

i'm actually buying a 2007 e63 in the suumer with around 50k miles for 35k. great deals on them right now

Can't speak of personal experience, having only ever driven a C63 very briefly, and never an E63. But my choice of those two cars would be the C63 - the nature of the engine seems to suit the C better. Get into an E and I'd want a more torque laden delivery, ie. E55 or the bi-turbo E63.

Test drive both and see which one you like best. I love the way the E63 looks, but the C63's have been breaking some records at the track. Make sure to get a warranty, I recall hearing something about late model 63's have some sort of engine problem. There's even a thread about a lawsuit claiming the 63's have excessive wear problems with the cams or something like that.

I'd choose the C63 just because it is a smaller car and looks amazing. I think it would probably be a tad bit more nimble due to the shorter wheel base. It's a personal preference. Test drive both and see what you like and what suits you the best.

The biggest difference to me is the throttle blipping on the C63.

You just have to test drive both. Having traded up to a C63 from a C55, I prefer the C63, although I do miss my C55 sometimes.

For the last couple of years, I've attended the AMG Performance Tour down in OC and driven both the C63 & E63 hard. And imho, the C63 is more fun to drive, and with a tune the power is equal to the E63.

C63 outright if you want a handling car. Car and Driver did a comparison of buying a used E63 to a Charger SRT8, they said the Charger outhandled the older E class easily.

If you're going to get the W211 E63 then get one with the Performance Package. I also was looking at a W211 E63 and while they are quite nice so are the new 2012 C63s with the performance package. The 2012 C63s are a bit quicker and better handling too. Depends on what you want. To me the E63 would still have more "presence" than the C63. Apples and oranges.....

Pre-2012 C63 interior would hold me back from it. I love everything else about it though.

I'd say go for the E63.

Yeah, thats my general hesitation... There is a mint one around here with the Performance pack too. However I don't really like the performance pack wheels.

For my use - daily and fun driving - I'm not so sure I'd notice the handling disadvantage. I'd never take my car to the track, etc.
