E55 Engine Swap

Has anyone done it? Or know anyone thats done it? I'm gonna keep my c55 forever, and that would sound like an interesting project to do in the long run. Im not an expert, but from what I've heard, the car would mainly need the e55 ecu, the engine, exhausts mods, and a rebuilt tranny to do the conversion. Let me know what your thoughts are. I know its pricey, but that's not really the issue since I'm keeping it forever.

+1 From someone who has mucked around with engines, turbo's, standalone ecu's and everything in between, just buy the car you want. 99% of projects are never completed. I have just finished a long standing project and it really doesn't interest me anymore and I hope I never do it again. I thought it was the car I would have forever. I still might but I doubt it. People change.

Do the kleemann kit if you want more power.

Yeah I've actually thought about the kleeman kit. Right now I'm searching for headers, but I'm not sure if kleeman makes em for the c55

This should be my next project actually

It's worth it over the Kleemann kit IMO because it will be more reliable ride for sure. Buying a E55K ??? It’s a completely different car than the C55 IMO these two cars can't be compared. (Ultimately the C55 will be faster in a straight line and around corners considering the weight difference alone)

But you are correct you need the entire engine, the ECU, the transmission and rear axle to make sure you won't have any reliability issues in the future. The Kleemann kit is clearly a much cheaper alternative but not the same at all since many components are not built to handle the torque and hp increase.

Why do you say the KLEEMANN kit isn't reliable? I think it is very reliable. Are you sure E55 axles will bolt on?

My bad, what I meant to say is that if you want to keep your C55 like a normal MB and drive lets say 180 000 miles the E55K will be a more reliable choice.

I have been talking to a few tuners and they all told me the C55 engine block is not made to handle a kompressor... But the E55K block was since it's stronger made for a supercharger.
Now again, this is not from personal experience, it's just what I was told by tuners...

However, I am sure Kleemann is reliable since many people have them but it won't be reliable like a stock AMG that’s what I meant to say

someone on this forum (check the w203 section) swapped in an E55k motor into their C class benz. He also owns or runs a car shop. it's sick...and it is actually sitting in the shop here (in houston)...actually happens to be the shop i go to haha. but yah, it's likely quite pricey. might as well just get a different car
