Anyone here using escorts 9500i or ix in there W203?

Just wondering if its a good idea to have all frequencies on? Where do you guys have it mounted? I believe best place is up beside the rear view mirror.

9500ix all on and it's windshield mounted to the left of the rearview mirror and about 1/4 way up from dash. Works great! Saved my *** a few times...

I followed some directions on here and ran a wire from the cigarette lighter so it automatically turns on and off with the ignition. You can use a regular phone cord to do it or buy one on Ebay for less than ten bucks. Its really easy to do.

I guess that answers, thanks. What i originaly menat was do you guys care to run the power around the window/trim to make it nice and neat or do you let it hang in the middle straight to the lighter?
Thanks,

I used to have an 8500 x50 and I hardwired it and ran it neatly through the pillar ad you mentioned above.

i thought about doing that, but then how do you press the "mute" and "locked signal" button on the piece that plugs into the lighter? or do you lose that functionality?

I'm using the passport solo s3 I love mine saved me several times. Mines hardwired through the lighter and the mute and all of that still works fine.

*** Yes, all the above and more. Redline, V1 (x3), 9500iX, Stir +, you name it, I've got it or use it ***

I do NOT run with all frequencies on, particularly on the V1 and the Redline. Again, this is impt., where do you run your unit since Ohio, NJ and other states use all bands . The less bands you scan, the hotter (meaning better and not in a temperature sense) your unit will be. A V1 with X off, Ka Guard off, TSR off with K and Ka and Laser ON is a great way to run. ON the iX series, run with X off (if you can in your areas of travel to save on scanning bandwidth and also noise).

Best place to mount for radar is up HIGH since Radar waves tend to travel high as they are shot from the gun and you'll also get scatter. Lidar, well you're toast by the time he hits you, so it often doesn't make a difference unless you get scatter, and its better to run low since they are shooting for Center Mass (license plate) and /or the headlights and fogs. IN those states where legal, get a LI system (Cliff on these forums sells them) and its the best you can get.

One other thing, RLCs and speed cams are becoming insidious. If you're in a metro area, get one that captures these like 9500iX or the Stir+ or a Redline with a Cheetah or a SC55 unit. They are now receiving more revenue from RLCs and SCs than they do all others.

The 9500 series have the auto mute function so it mutes after a couple of initial beeps anyway. I have mine nice and tucked away which is really easy to do.

I think some if the cops here use X so I'm inclined to keep it. Do you think I should try it without the X?
