C32 AMG
R&d #8

As you can see from the graphs below we have made some significant progress.

Green graph was our last R&D #7 post. Here is the link:

R&D #7

Red graph shows an addition of SL55 Intake Splitter, hoses with Hi-Flow panel filters and our evosport 8 mm plug wires. We are using Denso Iridium Plugs gapped at 0.035’’.

Peak to peak gains look big – 30.5HP and 26TQ, mainly because the intake allows the engine to breeze at the top. Average gains are more like 10-12HP and 10-15 ft.lbs. TQ. We tested both at the same time, so it is hard to say how each mod provided.

We will be testing wires separately on other MB V6s and V8s and we will post their gains.

We have tested the splitter before on a stock C32 and only have seen gains in 3-5HP range. Now with headers and an extra 4 lbs. of boost from ODPS, stock splitter can not supply enough air for the compressor.

We will be releasing SL55 splitter kit very shortly. I will make a separate post.

Since our last update in April we have been continually working with POWERCHIPS on C32 software. Due to busy dyno schedule we were mainly concentrating on part-throttle mapping. Last week our schedule allowed us to resume full-throttle tuning.

As you can see from blue graph that has been very rewarding. 359.7HP/352.1TQ on CA 91 gas. The conditions in the shop were pretty bad. It was a hot day in Southern California – 89F and 60% humidity. In the shop it was over 105F and we were concerned that the dyno cooling fans were not enough to keep engine from detonating. But were able to make good power and establish the limit on timing advance for this configuration.

On a colder day with stock 17” wheels and tires – like all other runs, we should see another 5-7HP.

The second chart above shows total overall gains from when our car was stock at 283HP and 273TQ.

77HP and 78TQ gains so far at the wheels. I am starting to lean towards 17% as HP/TQ loss at the wheels. Stock 349HP C32s and stock 347HP W210 E55s are usually in mid 280HP, (349 x 0.83 = 289.67).

So if we use 17% as the drivetrain loss, than we are at (359.7 / 0.83) - 433HP. Also as you see from the bottom portion of the graph the Air to Fuel (A/F) ratio is perfect at 12:5 to 1, same as stock.

So far this is what we have on our C32:

1. ODPS - OverDrive Pulleys System, extra 4 lbs. of boost and Intercooler capacity upgrade. More Info

2. Equal Length Headers – better exhaust breathing. More Info

3. SL55 Intake Splitter with hoses and Hi-Flow filters – better intake breathing.

4. Custom 8 mm Plug Wires – more info to follow

5. evosport/POWERCHIPS software – the “glue” that holds it makes it all work.

Final Pricing on all of this package will be available shortly, please contact Ben.

We are working on more C32/SLK32 products. We believe that we can reach 475HP at the engine with 3.2L.

Stay tuned.

Please note that Vadim's baseline of 283whp is before adding 19" SSR-GT3's, which translated to a loss of 9whp. Total gains at the wheel so far are 86whp. Using a 17% drivetrain loss, we come to 103HP at the crank, making our current upgrades cheaper and equal gains to a 3.8L conversion; without going into the motor. We will dyno/post later this week with stock 17" wheels, when it cools down here, to put our results on a level playing field with everyone else.

Thanks,
Ben

Our headers are currently on sale for the introductory price of $1699. Installation takes about 6 hours.

Our Stage II ECU upgrade is $1090.

I will release pricing on the SL55 Y-Pipe w/ connectors and evosport plug wires shortly.

Thanks,
Ben

Yes, we will be offering a complete Stage II kit which will include all of the performance modifications currently on Vadim's car. Pricing is still to be finalized on a few of the parts, but we are anticipating it being between $5,500-$6,000.

Thanks,
Ben

We do have plans to expand evosport over several locations in the coming months. The modifications currently on the car do not require our professional installation, and can be performed by most shops; providing they are competent to do so.

Thanks,
Ben

The Y-Pipe with all of the necessary fittings needed to smoothly incorporate it into the intake system should be around $200.

I'll just throw it on an LD'11 pallet and load into the belly of a 747, I saw 2 Elises take off one today.

PS I'll be waiting.

I was thinking sending them by truck. 747's seem to have a problem landing in our parking lot It's about $1200 across the country, depending on your location. If anyone is interested, I can put them in touch with the transport company.

Thanks,
Ben
