Akebonos are great for dust but I just can't get over the nasty spongy brake feel. I love the initial bite on the OEM pads, and am thinking of switching over to red stuff to try to get that back without getting the same level of dust.
Too bad theres no Hawk pad application for our cars!

Skip on the EBC stuff. I've been using them on a couple of my cars but not they're not very impressive. After a little while the pads look like charcoal and crack/chip, and I ended up with about the same amount of brake dust for both the EBC red and yellow brake pads.

I just installed Akebono pads and Balo rotors and so far I have lots of dust. I thought that they were dust free? Maybe after they get wore in a little? The bite feels the same as the oem pads.

I cannot recommend Disc Itailia from brakeworld enough. I do not track the car so I can't discuss fade. But absolutely no brake dust. Feel is great too.

if your brakes feel "spongy" you probably need to bleed your brakes. You shouldn't feel a difference regardless of what pads you use, just a difference in the stopping distance.

I thought the Akebono's were great until I switched them out for Porterfield RS4's and realized how mediocre the bono's really were. Of course the akebono's were half the price. Though from TopBrakes.com $119 was pretty reasonable for the RS4's compared to the $170 from Porterfield themselves.

So you can't have your cake and eat it too, all the manufacturers that have great stopping pads put out dust. No dust equals no stopping.
Do not use EBC Redstuff for the street, they are a track pad, you will crap your pants because they do not stop when cold. I run EBC yellows, the dust is not as bad as stock but they stop great.

The redstuff is the street pad and the yellow stuff is the street/track pad.
Like previously stated, skip on the EBC stuff. The way these pads deteriorate before the life of the pad is up is ridiculous. They get a bit squeeky too.

maybe straight from the source - the EBC website. *edit* Dang, beat by Gramma_Benz, hahahaI ran the red pads at the El Toro / Top Gear US track for a day and a half, 15 minute sessions, and by the time I was done the rotors were glazed and the pads toast. Every few days they would build up brake dust in the caliper and make the brakes squeek unless I braked hard. I'll upload some pictures of the toast redstuff pads w/ glazed rotors tomorrow night for reference.
Currently on the yellowstuff pads and the rears squeek sans hard braking. Maybe I'll snap some pics of them when I put the car up on jacks for the next service.
