Help! Too Loud! What To Do With Exhaust?

So i put my car back to the shop today to get something done to my new exhaust set up to make it less noisy!

What would be a better move?

1. 2 x 4" mufflers in place of secondary cats & a new resonator in place of old one.

or....

2. 2 in 2 out long muffler in centre. (2 in would be pipes where secondary cats used to be - 2 out will be pipes leading to tips on either side)

i want the car to still sound good but not excessively loud.

Cheers.

If you have room, go for the Aero Muffler or Aero Resonator. http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/...urbine-Muffler
http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/...aust-Resonator
Or any other brand Resonator. The longer the better.

Maybe I'm completely wrong here, but I thought resonators only changed the tone and did no actual "muffling" of sound waves. Seems to me you want more mufflers and no resonators. My C55 has no resonators and sounds more muscle-car-ish, but no louder than stock.

i had same problem with my c32, with c55 there is almost no drone, with 2nd cats and resonator delete, because i kept stock mufflers, so all the sound is the back trunk...u need bigger mufflers in where stock mufflers, maybe those aero mufflers might fit or put high flow cats where 2nd cats use to be.

Ok plan is......

Run 2 long mufflers from the secondary cat position right back as far as possible so these custom mufflers will be about 2.5foot long.

Then into a X-pipe then straight pipes to tips.

So basically cutting away the whole middle section and replacing with 2 long mufflers.

QUESTION!

Should I have x-pipe at end of these 2 mufflers or have a couple of short pipes joining the 2 long mufflers like a ladder instead?

2 in 2 out muffler sounds like a better solution from an acoustic and financial point of view.

If there is room, I would use two 2.5" AT-2525 Aero Exhaust Mufflers (one on each pipe). You would need 6" diameter clearance. Then if that is not enough, add the resonators.

That is a good option but may not be enough. May still need resonators behind it.
