drag radials
Spoke to B F Goodrich today, They claim they have nothing that will cross to stock 245/40/17 or 255/35/18's in their new drag radials. Anyone Know Better?
Stock dia. 24.7 with 17's. 25 dia. with 18's. the closest they have are 25.5. Would this be a problem? That would be a near 1" greater dia. than stock. Best times (12.9) were run with stock 17".

Try some Nitto NT555R
drag radials. The only fitment for a C32 is 245/45/17,and is about .75" taller than the stock 245/40.No car problems as far as ESP et cetera, although the cruise control won't stay engaged when the Nittos are on the car.

Did't intend on cross country driving. I WANT TRACTION OFF THE LINE. I have a extra set of carlsson 18 rims to use. Looking for correct diameter.

DUH!
The Nittos have dropped my 60' time by about .15 seconds.I only use them for dragracing, but it's really nice to be able to change tires at home, not at the track. If used on the street, they would have a brief life. They get sticky enough to pick up track debris when warm.

since they are taller...what effect does that have on 1/4mile specs - trap speed is slower?

No change to speak of in my trap speed
Only difference, other than better/more consistent 60' times and ETs,is that the each pass ends in 3rd gear instead of 4th.With stock diameter tires,it would upshift into 4th just after the 1000' line. The minor gearing disadvantage is more than offset by the increase in traction.
When heated up,the Nittos grab track debris the same way my track bike's tires do.... touch your fingertip to the warm tread and it sticks. :p

It's been so warm here lately that
My first tire warmup is for only about 5 seconds. After that, just a quick lightup after passing through the waterbox on the way to staging.

Hi Norm!...
Best 60' time so far was a 2.003 on the Nittos. It was my first time at PIR,and most of the other racers I spoke to were complaining about the relatively (for them) poor traction. My best 60' time prior to this,on S-03's @ Woodburn, was a 2.112.
Tire pressure was 20#,and I think that a bit lower would be better yet.The Nittos aren't magic, but they hook up better and are far more consistent than normal street radials.I'll play with lower pressure and higher launch RPM this Friday night at street-legal drags.

Steve, Roozy, I'm hitting 1.9's with street tires. Whats up with that? I'm looking for better . Either of you have full print out of 1/4 time slips.

Poch, good to hear from you. Jim and I have been around. Just doing other things. Looking for these tires seems tuff finding size close to original dia. You remember the time results going to 18's vs. 17's thats why I want to make correct move. I've an extra set of Carlssons in 18's from my wife car that I could use for drag strip. Take care. P.S. Had fun at Daytona .

Poch, Jim and I have been around. Just doing different things. In refrence to the tires. I have a extra set of 18's carlossons from my wife's car. Thats why I am trying to find the size to get me back to the original 17 size. You rember the out come when I ran with Jim's 18's and my 17's. I just want more traction.
