Pure C55 sound!

No mufflers!!!

Just longtube headers, no cats,, totally open headers!
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151394449904475

I PROMISE guys.. car will not be run like this, i just wanted to share the sound.
the phone microphone distorts even thou i closed the door *lol*

The smoke is exhaustwrap that hasn´t been run earlier, all is new.

Setup:
ported and polished intake, modified throttle, modified elbow, ported and polished heads, homemade headers with real merge collectors.

I´m in search for Dbilas/Kleemann camshafts, if someone got a couple layin´around for N/A engine and want to sell them, let me hear from you.

Reason why i started with no exhaust: i wanted to blow out possible dirt(metal shavings etc etc) before mounting the cats.

Rgds.

Hello guys.
I´ll post pics later today.
first i´ll answer a little.

I built the headers with real mergecollectors , tried to build equal length first, but it was impossible, so i gave up on that, As the camshafts are very very mild std and tuningscams for theese engines i figured the lentgh tune is secondary to flow.
The headers are about 5inches longer than kleeman´s headers and as i said real merge collectors.

I also tried to film with open door and full throttle,, no good.. it´s the only thing i can say about that *lol*

1st try to build equal length, but it was a 'no go'

Ported inlet:

Building stage:

The left header:

I ain´t the best welder in the world, but it´s good enough for me, as i won´t sell them to anyone

First part of exhaust system, i´m building a complete upgradesystem:

You may wonder why i don´t build dual pipes?
the answer is, weight and sound.
I want a deep tone, the 'ferrari sound' doesn´t do it for me
The first pipes after the headers are 63.5mm as std.
The catalytics are magnaflow 200cell.
The singlepipe underneeth the car is 76mm std is 70mm
The dual pipes at rear is now 63.5mm std is about 50mm? (i don´t remember the size)

I dunno the powerlevel i will reach, but all mods should add up to about 430hp.
Future will tell.
I have built a complete different airfiltersystem with influenses from the pipes from the compressorcars and to top of i use two CAI airfilters.
The inletsystem is ported and polished with nice radiuses on inlettracts.
I modded the 'elbow' too, added epoxi for having material to grind in.

well,, there are a lot of mods, and ofcourse i ported the exhaustrunners in heads too, but unfortunatly no pics.

Rgds.

Here's a video of my exhaust. I am thinking about doing a true dual, each individual pipe from the header all the way back (No X or H or connection) to the mufflers. I know I'll lose a little torque but the sound will more than likely be EPIC

It´s funny how people are different, In my case i found true duel pipes sounds really crappy.
I wan´t the low deep tone and the sound that comes out of an single pipe.
Hence the true 3" pipe underneeth the car.

Interesting... yeah I mean most people on here do X pipe to get rid of that raspy AMG noise. Me on the other hand... I cant get enough of that rasp noise. Maybe its an age thing haha I definitely love the sound yours makes though, lets not get forget that!!

My car from the side.
I might shop coilovers any day now, but i´ll check first if it´s the same system as on my C36 AMG first, you can change the rubbers in 7mm interval to lower the car.
i want about 7-10mm lower at rear and 15-20mm lower at front.
I doubt there are this system in the front, but.. one could make some modifying on the strutmounts

The car has been on jackstands all winter so i need to make a couple of miles to take the decision later.

And a pic of my airfiltersystem,, not done.
I will cast a copy of std aircleaner and chop the copy up to just make clearance for the new filters:

To this system i have built new 'brackes'(tubes) in the front to fit these 75mm hoses perfect.
So whole airsystem is now ported and optimised with larger tubes and more flow down to throttlebody.
And i can tell the difference without even have left the garageway.
The engine´s throttleresponse is really sexy now

Your exhaust sounds FABULOUS! You got it right. I"m talking about the garage vid. Perfect.

Sounds better than my eisennman IMHO.

Thanks.

I will make a new clip when car is run for a couple of hours, the whool in the silencers will bed in a bit with heat.
And actually right now the sound is a bit different then in the clip.
Now it´s slightly less 'raspy' and same amount of rumble.

I haven´t run it on the streets yet,, here in Sweden it´s snow still.

No, sorry no dynos yet.
I´ll have to wait for dynoer to make time for me.

BUT!!!
After a couple of hours of testdriving this weekend.
A thought is coming to my mind.
Jeremy Clarksson said about C63 : Axemurderer...

Well.. i feel the same way.
It pulls really hard.
I got as i said 285 wide tires at rear,, no problems to make 2wheel burn about 180ft without pushing it.
Just disable traction control and put on sportmode in gearbox.. and floor it!

Later on this year, about August i might take it out on the quarter mile for a run.

Really really fun!!
1st,2nd, and 3rd,, just turns up in smoke if wanted

Well.. I can´t notice any problems at all.
Running silksmooth.

Have you other guys who has tuned your 55´s noticed an drop in fuel consumtion?
When cruising at highwayspeed that is.

hey all
had a quick question so ive been try to find what the best option out there is for an exhaust system between kleemann or eisenmann for my c55 or are there any other options out there? Im also shooting for a price range thats not too outrageous may $1K. Do I just get headers, or a full exhaust system. Im kinda new to the concept and any help would be appreciated thanks
