Sound coming from right front tire area

The "air con buzz" thread got me thinking about a wierd sound that I have noticed a rapid, low clicking sound a couple of times in my car. Remember putting playing cards on the spokes of your bike so that it would make sort of an exhaust noise when the bike rolled? The sound I am hearing is sort of like that, and is coming from the right front tire area. It is not related to engine speed. . . I tried coasting with the engine off and I can hear it still. My best guess at this point is a problem with the wheel bearing? Any guesses?

Why don't you simply jack that corner up off the ground and spin the tire?.It's tough to diagnose noises via the internet.

Damn, you guys are brilliant! Last time I got such good advice, I had complained to the doctor about pains in my head. The fine M.D. diagnosed me with "headaches," and sent me a bill for $350.00. Dr. Clark, just send me a bill. . . I am forever in your debt.

Mr. Vomit:
why don't you do one of your "lawyer" moves... like Move to strike! or something

I demurr to the dicta ("I don't like the noise")

I object to the errata ("I don't like defects")

Trover! replevin! assumpsit! ("Sheet, Freek, Hell")

The worst part is, the MBZ mechanics won't even let me retain 1/3 of the total repair bill (I tried to explain to them that, because I 'referred' my car to them, I should be paid. They were not amused.)

Mr Vomit:

Since the argumentation seems to be failing, maybe you should take with you Mr Vader13 who has the "power of the forged!" with him...

Just be careful, Mr Vader has Brabus V1's on his "Imperial Fighter" which makes his fighter a little slow, more like an ATT walker... (that is all lingo from Star Wars, just in case you are THAT old and don't know what we are talking about )

Have you asked the dealer to "Move to reconcider?"

Wiedermann:

Sounds like you and I are taking the same hallucinogens, but you might be opting for a larger dose. . .

In any case, even Vader knows that I-forged is the true "dark side." The problem with making a movie about I-forged is that, based on their (lack of) delivery reliability, the line would have to be " Luke. . . the Forge is NOT with you."

I considered and rejected the 'Motion to Reconsider,' but did manage to generate a Bowell Motion. The MBZ janitor is still cleaning up.

I agree with you.. those "forgie" guys... from what I've read of them... I say F**K them all!... too many stories that "I got this right"... "I got this wrong"..."my order this"..."my order that"... I can only hope a lawyer (like yourself) would sue their asses off with a mega-macro-horribly-huge law suit and froze their cash accounts in liens and so on.. then they would learn... (unfortunately my father in law is dead now --passed away in 2001--, otherwise he would be happy to clean them out... he was a great lawyer... )

Mr Vader is with his heavy *** Imperial Fighter now transformed in an ATT walker with those 500 punds in wheels (hey, a little bit of exaggeration is ok... haha ) ... so we gotta give them man a little "time" to pick up on the streets and freeway... though, the lack of speed is well compensated in looks!!.. I must say that... The Brabus force it with him!

A little quote from Mr Vader:

Yeah!!!.. that is what I say... POOP on them... and a little pukie would not be bad at all... then we can truly call you Mr Vomit!

Cheers!

Don't be so paranoid, Wiedermann. "Mr. Puke" is in a good mood today.

A prof. at Berkeley once told me that Star Wars was actually a homosexual soft-**** with Vader being the male "member." It actually makes some sense if you think about it. . . After all, who besides Vader wears black robes? Answer: boy-loving priests.

Also, take a look at Vader's helmet. Look familiar (color aside)? If not, we understand.

Same prof. also said that professional football was a homo ritual in which the center and quarterback were lining up for an "intimate moment." Prof also made mention of "tight ends," "wide receivers," and "penetrating the other side's end-zone." Guy wrote a whole book about it. I think he got fired.

No, Wierdermann, nobody told me caca-useful. Actually, the "useless reply/thread hijack" contest ended up in a close race between you and Dr. Clark. You got the comedy votes. Dr. Clark got the "California Department of Motor Vehicles Award For Seemingly Helpful Comment Which Is Actually Useless."

Weirdermann was the hijack.

You (Dr. Steve) were the placebo solution (who has now violated his Hippocratic Oath by cursing his patient with 'wheel fall off' voodoo).

I finally decided to ask my car. My car said:

Farking nothing.

Aha!... though, I would tell ya, I would be freakin' out if I had a noise coming from anywhere...

Like Vader (ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh dark Lord of the Brabus that is!) said, if your car is still under warranty, you should be able to get it fixed...unless... double AHA!... unless there is more to the story that you have not told us... like for ex. if you have a custom suspenssion???... if so, what kind it is???... how old???, etc...

A friend of mine that has custom everything on his car, all the sudden; while driving a noise, a real loud noise, started to come from the front right wheel... sound was so bad that we had to pull out of the freeway and go to a shop... it turned out the coil on the right front assembly broke!!! and the now "two pieces" of loose spring would make a terrible noise (though the spring broke,, still each end of the spring was attached to its mount, therefore, the broken pieces with the vibration of the road would make a horrible "crank" like sound...)... it is "rare" for a normal driving vehicle to have broken coils theses days, especially a Mercedes Benz one... that according to the MB database for repairs on cars last year at least... so Mr vomit, don't quit on us now... better find out what the deal is and post what the heck did you do to your car.. to fix the problem...
I am hoping AND assuming you have looked into this and obviously you don't have a broken suspension.... but??.. I just have to ask...

Suspension is stock. It's really a minor, but noticeable noise. I figured that I would just deal with it during my next service visit. Car is still under warranty. It really sounds like a bad wheel bearing in its beginning stage of failure to me.

Vomit: Pop a grease cap on the wheel side. Bearings are adjustable. Mine was howling for while, until I found 5 minutes to tighten it down.
