I know its for winter, but I actually like the smoother off the line throttle response..."S" is quite the jerky when coming off the line....in normal driving.

Could W mode hurt the car in the long run because it starts in 2nd?

I also sometimes drive in "W" mode, although in my car it is "C"omfort mode. Especially in heavy traffic (stop, start) it prevents it from hunting between 1 and 2. The only time I don't use C mode is when pulling away at a steep hill. I have found that the gearbox is "slipping" quite a lot then. Otherwise I don't think it is harmful. Why would MB design the car that way then?

I use "W" in stop in go traffic. The C32 is too aggressive in first unless I want to be aggressive or at the track.

I have no actual G-Tech testing data..
but I can swear that my best ESP On launches are in W mode w/ the selector pushed down to "1" !

I have never driven in "W" yet. When I really want to have fun, I put the beast in dyno mode so that pesky ESP doesn't ever engage!

W mode only in the rain or sometimes when my wife is with me (wife mode).

I wish the car had sportier mode like SS or ES.

One time I, accidently had the trans set in W mode, after driving about 1mile, decided I need to take it in for warranty work and was really bummed, then I releaized it was in W mode.

Putting it into S mode, put the smile back on my face., it was back up to barely acceptible power, as opposed to (W mode) hopelessly dead. The next mile was much better.
