The C55 has the W209 CLK front bumper and panels. So, if that grill fits a CLK W209 chassis, then it should fit your C55. Call your local MB dealer parts guy and they'll research the grill part # your wife just bought.
Had to do some slight trimming on the top row of the grille. Hidden when hood is closed.
This is incorrect. This info comes from youtube video from a genius who trimmed his CLK grill to fit latch. The videographer also drilled holes into his grill to fit the stock C55 center support bracket.
DO NOT DO THIS. Safety latch and center support are direct swap from CLK. No cutting or drilling needed.
After. I found the four bar first which is pre-2005 (I think). When I find a three bar as seen in later CLK, I will give it a try. Hood Star is staying for now.
CLK grille and flat hood badge looks best to me...the factory grille may be unique but it is boring
I agree, stock C55 grill is too close to regular W203's. Still thinking about a flat badge but hood star makes mine different from a CLK which is important to me.
I love the factory grill with the hood star. miss that on the newer cars. my grill is a little beat up. if anyone did the swap and wants to sell their old set up I might be open to buy it.
I have the grill and upper strip and would like to go back to stock also. Why look like just another CLK? Too many people do this. I actually prefer the look of the W203. Now if I could swap over to the CLK side MIRRORS...
I need the original hood latch. Anyone know the part numbers or other cars they might have been used on?

Hey, i own CLK from 2003 and would love to have standing star and grill without star, the C55 grill should fit my CLK, but I have no idea where to get it(it seems impossible) do you still have your old grill or know the serial number of that part?
You will still need a center support and the correct hood release for the C55. The CLK hood release won’t work. You could potentially make one out of a second CLK release by relocating the handle like AMG originally did:
Also, the C55 hood had threaded studs on the underside of the hood to mount the upper strip, but you could probably just glue it on.
