Stupid dealer!!!

Summary of what happened with the stupid dealer..

On the phone

Me: I want to come in for an alignment, can I come in today?
Woman working there: Sure, you can come anytime after 10:30am.
Me: Will there be a loaner for me?
Woman: Yes

After a 20min drive to the dealer...

Me: Hi. I'm here for my alignment.
Service guy: Alignment? The alignment guy is not in today. Did you make an appointment?
Me: Yes
Service guy: Well, you can leave it overnight and he'll do it tommorow.
Me: Ok I'll leave it here then.
Service guy: Actually, we don't have any loaners right now.
Me: Well, I called earlier this morning, and they said there would be a loaner.
Service guy: I guess they didn't know that there were no loaner cars.

Then a loaner car comes in..

Me: Is that a loaner?
Service guy: Yes
Me: Then can I take that loaner?
Service guy: No, I think there are people waiting for loaners.
Me: Then go check if there are people.
Service guy: There are a few people waiting.

Then, I say something nicely implying this is BS, and he just says he can't do anything about it.

Never in our conversation, he apologizes for the inconvenience. Also, he was very condescending in conversation.

Also, he said that they couldn't do an alignment on my car, because I don't have Mercedes wheels. I guess there are special holes on Mercedes wheels that they use for alignment. I told him that I've done an alignment there before with those wheels, and he said he wasn't sure about it.

Where do you guys go for alignments? Maybe I should go somewhere else? and is it true they can't do alignments for non Mercedes wheels?

Send the above print out to MB USA cust. serv in New Jersey.

It is sad to see that service in most MB dealers in the US leaves a lot to be desired about "customer service".

Unfortunately it is the same here in SA.

I don;t think there's a MAYBE about it, lol; definately, just go somewhere else; fyi - they'll definately align cars with custom wheels, the SA you talked was full of sh*t; I've aligned mine several times @ the dealer when I had my Brabus rims, and even you have aligned it with the custom wheels @ the dealer; bottom line, look and ask around for a reliable alignment specialist in your city, they'll probably do a better job and charge like half of what the dealer charges; GL

If you go to a dealer where you didn't purchase the car, you will have a harder time than the above, in getting a loaner. I once asked MBUSA why dealers are so picky about giving out loaners to customers to who did not purchase their Benz from that dealer. The answer, "It is up to the individual dealer to make their own rules and regulations regarding loaners, there isn't much we can do about it."

Great, so what you're saying is, I was away on business, I purchased a $110K CL, drove it home, take it to the dealer I have purchased other MB's and I can't get a loaner during service because of your idiotic policy. So, next time I decide to spend even more on a car, I will go somewhere else? Nothing like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

MB Service = Humiliation, imperfection, disgust, hatred, and displeasure.

Not that I am complaining...

When i took my car in to my dealer they didn’t have any loaners but I was so furious to about how long my car was going to be at the dealer because they couldn’t give me an eta so they gave me a loaner right away. Its been almost a month and still no car. I don’t know how im liking MB's service!!!!!

Missing my beloved Benz
haha, its your dealership. Don't blame MB because my dealership comes and picks my car up and if I want, just request a loaner and its here when they pick the car up for as long as the car is in for service. If I were to call them today, they would be here today... so try another MB dealership, you have alot of them in Jersey, jeez.

The dealer I went to is the dealer I bought the car from. They are always very nice to me, but this service guy was new and was a biatch. I'm always able to get loaners, even an ML when I request it. I wanted to go to the dealer, even if it was more money, because I do need a car. Maybe I should just go somewhere else. Are the big tire stores like Big O Tire, Evans Tire, reliable? Anyone know a good place in San Diego?

independent shops may or maynot have the tools to give you a wheel alignment. for example, "belle tires" didn't have the tool kits (apparently it is very special and expensive) about a year ago. now they do. it cost my $45. that nearly 50% less than the MB dealership (all of them i believe were charging $90). also, there are specialized import shops that have the equipement, but they charge the same price as MB dealers.

there are some quality alignment shops out there, you just gotta dig it out from the web. Personally I wouldnt align my car at a dealer because what if they mess up your rim and they then say it wasnt their fault because of not having "mercedes" rims.
