bodykit looks plain...

but if it's like they said, the game's over for sure...haha unless AMG decides to slap the s/c onto the c55.

I like it for the easy upgrade to 500HP and the AWD. I like to walk softly and carry a REALLY big stick :p

The looks are ok, just what i like, a sleeper, just like most people don't know what a C32 is until it is too late.

I like it! Of course, I'm biased toward Audi's. I don't like the chrome grille that will come with the regular A4 and S4, but if they black out the grille like that on the RS4, it would be awesome. The tailights look retarded and the front chin bodywork is busy too... but the engine would easily make up for it. Look at those HUGE brakes! I want...

The front grille doesn't look as bad but I think it's b/c it's a black car which hides the hideous new front grille. These pics of the front end makes me think of the Mazda6 for some reason. ?

So what is the difference between the RS4 and just the S4 besides the engine? What does the "R" stand for?

Also, I found some more info just now which someone said...

"I'm inclined to agree with Nordschleife about this possibly being a tuned S4. If you look at the evidence, then a) it has the Kempten number plate, and b) If you look at the previous A4 over RS4 and the A6 over RS6, then Audi have done way more body work enhancements than just a spoiler and real bumper tail to the RS models.
I'm hoping that the new RS4 will really stand out from the S4 Visually, and not just a bumper restyle.... I think most will agree ?"

Now I'm really lost on the whole "abt" thing.
Nick

Drove an RS6 hard late at nite on the M1 in the UK - it IS an HP packed monster.....the same engine in an RS4 would be unthinkable! Despite its looks and all......don't even think about challenging one or it will be game over in under 4 sec's!

Nick,

The RS cars are made by Quattro GmBh for Audi. Its mroe akin to the AMG line than even the S cars inteh Audi lineup. S cars are considered an upgrade, but like AMG, the RS cars are considered the ultimate cars in each model line. Nobody is quite sure what engine will be in that car yet. The previous RS4 is a very famous car for being high-powered, yet very capable in teh handling department. In fact, RS4 spec cars won the Speed GT Touring Championship in 2002-3 I believe.

Abt is a german, TUV approved tuner sort of on the level of Kleenman or Lorinser. They make parts and modifications seperate from Audi and Quattro GmBh in Germany.

I think the RS6 I tried had a bi-turbo, wonder if that is going to be in the RS4. In any case, I was told the old RS4 is actually faster than the RS6 of the same generation. Personally, I like the look of the Estates better.

if that thing retails in C55 price range, I'm all over it!!! it should be since the regular S4 is about $7k cheaper than the C55 now.....and by that time (2yrs?) I'll probably be sick of my C55? I really like Quattro (safety/secure), my friend had a chipped S4 (B5) and let me tell ya', the feeling of thrust it gives you while all that torque transfers to ALL 4 wheels clawing onto the asphault ...well you have to experience it yourself to even justify...it's just NUTZ!!!! and the styling is not too shabby.....just like the new BMW 5 and 7, when it intro'd I didn't like it, but it grew on me.....

If the B5 Rs4 is an indicator in price,,,,you dont want it to be

IIRC it was over 70k to get a Rs4 overseas, compared to a 40k S4...it was never sold in the US...but people did import a few.

This new Rs4 will be in the 60 to low 70k range IMO...otherwise, it wont sell. The Rs6 had difficulty selling as well.

Sorry buddy, not gonna happen... R-technology Audisport models are VERY expensive. The old RS4 was $60-65K.. The current RS6 (now out of production) was around $85K.. I'll bet that the new RS4 will be around $70K+ easily...

500Hp and AWD?

Sounds pretty good. But it's just a plain looking car. The sleeper factor is nice but ......what were they thinking with those front grills and rear end.

Did I see a roll-bar in one of those pics?
