Did you check to see if the gas cap is on right? If it's not closed correctly it can cause a check engine light to come on.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that it is just that. Bring it in to service and they should be able to quickly check the codes.

If it is like most OBDII cars, the CE light indicates some "emissions" related problem. Oil level (or pressure) would produce some other indication. Check your Owner's Manual. If it goes away within a few days and the car drives fine, it could have been a loose gas cap, but more likely a misfire from some bad gas or a result of today's over-sensitive computers. Ask to have diagnostic codes read on next visit. If it goes away and comes back, I would take it in for service.

Rgds,
Norm

man, what is it with our cars? I brought my car in today to fix the squeak coming from the front and also fix a faulty lock. Service advisor calls me at 4 and tells me I have a leak coming from the coolant hose. Part wont be in til friday, so Im stuck with a loaner until friday

Better than being stuck without a loaner.

I think it could be that they didn't press down the air filters when they installed them. Often times mbtechs don't press hard enough on the filters on install and so suck in unfiltered air that causes check engine lights to trip.

i was having some issues with the check engine light coming on and it turned out to be something with the air pump motor located right near the supercharger, was replaced, no more engine light. it happened twice inside a couple months, turned out to be a bad relay that was frying the motor.

Well this happend right after the Imperial Fighter got it's service B at 20K miles..
I got it from the dealer, did a gang of meetings in LA and drove it home.
I noticed it after I raped an over-pass on the 73 in OC..big S turn..Hit it at 60 left it at 120...
I think it might be a bad air filter replacement...
They did change the filters..

C3POs food cart aka, my car, is also in the same mileage about yours... in the last few months I have gone from 16k to now almost 19k and will be hitting the 20k in no time... I am sure mine will get to the same problems soon... sometimes is the lack of driving that causes the problems... though it doesn't seem in this case on your car...
