They are actually nice looking cars, though I haven't seen the V series yet. I was surprised to see they are asking 60K for well equipped version. THe V is got to be in the high 60's or more dontcha think?

Oh yeah I'm guessing the V series will be $70K.. I know the E55 is more a competitor than the C55, but it would be interesting to see what the straight line acceleration would be. I'm guessing it will be neck and neck with a C55 (maybe a tad faster)... Both auto trannys unlike the CTS-V which is only available with a 6-speed manual...

the current corvette engined cts-v should run about equally fast as the c55... doesn't look too shabby either.. r they putting a new sc'd northstar in already?

Nice performance and looks, but high sticker price and it's an American car. Resale value drops to half in about 2 years after purchase. I would go with an E55 or the new M5.

C63 AMG (stock right now), Beach Cruiser (debadged), Piper Cherokee 280 (too much to mention)
very close... but spinnies would put the cream on the cake!

thanks for the pics...

IMO this car is great... however priced well high!

one way of thinking is C55 is strong against this and i always thing u have to pick the higher horsepower vehicle (depending on budget)

however, the badge plays a factor... and resale - so let us hang on and discover how they compete in 6 months or so with some more tests comparing.

i cant help think they need a set of 25inch spinners as option for the homies

If the current STS is $63-64K fully optioned, then the V-series may be around $70K....

I like the look/styling of the new STS and CTS (V-series)...but I would never get one... and like Cops_h8_me, badge plays a big factor for me also, call me a brand ***** :p ....it's a good cup of tea, just not my flavor :p

I can't wait to drive one. The regular version I drove is nothing special, but the V should scare the Germany three and force some quick revisions ala RS4, V8M3, etc. As for resale, the Z corvette does not loose half its value in two years. Funny, my C32 seems to have lost about half in two years

nice STS-V...they look nice BUT I've still only seen ppl over 60 driving them. The STS-V is more like a Jag StypeR, E55, M5, RS6 fighter.

my bad...thought it was a pic of the cts-v instead of the sts-v.. sts really shouldn't be compared to a c-class tho..

The CTS seems too big to be a M3/C fighter, but then again, too small to be the M5/E fighter.

I like the look of it but can't help wondering a few things.

1. Will it be built from materials that are so poor in quality the slightest bit of sun and they crack like so many American Built/Designed cars.

2. Will it handle like a swimming pool inflatable as so many big American Built/Designed cars do.

3. Will it ever be sold in Europe after the European press rip it to pieces and tell us it is a massive joke of a car as they always do with American Built/Designed cars.

Sorry to sound anti-American car but there must be a reason why German manufacturers sell such large numbers in the US and all the ones I've had on hire out there, Lincoln Navigator for one, look great but appear to have been assembled using the cheapest plastics they could find.

S4,C55 and M3 have much better styling and they actually look like they should cost more than $50k unlike that thing shown which looks like plastic, i know its only my opinion but i'm probably less likely to be biased since its not a local manufacturer for me so i don't feel the need to be patriotic. Atleast i hope thats why you guys say you like it :p

No question they are increasing performance numbers in certain areas but I hate the styling. Looks like some overgrown kid's toy/robot with the edgy lines. Just MO. If they would smooth it out a bit and use decent materials and finish, the Euro sedans could start having some problems. It will probably be some years before they figure that out. In any case, sales will drive the decisions. No matter what I or anyone else thinks about the styling, if they sell well, that's all that matters to the GM business guys.

Rgds,
Norm

Regarding the first two questions the answer is no, just look at the current V model. As to whether it is sold in Europe that remains to be seen.

Did any of you see the comparision between the 400hp CTS-V, 425hp Chrysler SRT-8, and the 400hp Pontiac GTO in Motor Trend...???? The slowest car did 0-60 in 5.0 seconds..

I think that it is a nice effort by Cadillac, but I would much rather have a used E55 or M5, or equal or lesser price.

I think most people here will agree with you, but it is great to see the domestics step up to the plate. That Chrysler is looking pretty tough, I'd love to see what it would do with a full exhaust and open intake
