brakes

so much for this story

Braking: Power vented discs; ABS; Front - 12.75 inch diameter vented rotors (from MB SL600 V12 coupe) with AMG-modified 4 piston calipers,; Rear; 11.5 inch diameter vented rotors (from MB E500) with 2 piston calipers. 60-0 mph in 107 feet.

got some new pads by saying it was 96 c36.

came back, took of rims. wait a minute, those are single piston sliding ate calipers...not some 4 pots.

anyway, even after looking up vin, it came back with some what looks like pads for opposing 2 or 4 piston pads. not this sliding crap.

oh well. time for some bbk

Steve,

Did you own the car the car since it was new ?

All C36 should have front caliper like this

96-97 has the same brake component, the 95 one although the same setup (4 pot fixed caliper front and 2 pot fixed caliper rear) it has different part number and the front caliper on 95 C36 has ///AMG pinted on them.

Take a look at this site to http://www.2phast.com/C36/c36.htm

and the rear are solid rotor instead of vented. calipers look the same

no wonder i always felt the brakes to be a little mushy

steve

you're correct the rear brake disc for 96-97 is solid rotor not vented (it also uses W210 part number).
where on 95 C36 all the brake component (f & r) has HWA part number on them. Hence for 95 C36 it is quite a ***** to find any aftermarket brake disc or brake pad (next to the impossible if you know what I mean).

Brake mushy could be attribute to a lot of thing. such as you need to do brake flush, and possible running ss brake line might help.

But something definitely not right on your front brake..

Excuse me, but I am also in disbelieve why your C36 front caliper is floating caliper not 4 pot fixed caliper.
Could you just take a snapshot...of your C36, I am a bit skeptical..
