Redone AMG C43 Steering Wheel
Here' s the pictures I promised from the steering wheel I had redone (1998 C43). Judge for yourself and please feel free to ask me any questions cohibas4u@yahoo.com
If you like it contact Alan Gunn, here's his website - www.aglausa.com I am not receiving any special favors or compensation for this post. He posts on ebay and I offered to have the wheel done for $200 with shipping inclusive since he lists the service as an auction which will end up at $200 give or take. Also, he has loaner wheels he'll ship you while he redoes your wheel. I did tell him that I would post the wheel on the forum.
The perforations are smaller and closer than OEM, for your 411. I simply wanted to get rid of that nasty white portion....I have no idea whose 'great' idea that was to place white on the wheel, especially at ten & two.

1998 C43, White over two tone
Thanks for posting the pics man. I have talked to the same guy about possibly having a custom Carbon Fiber and leather wheel done for mine. It is a little more expensive, but I think the sporty look and rareness factor might make it worth the investment. I am thinking of doing a few more carbon fiber highlights around the car. WHat do you guys think?

Swifty, he is supposed to have a pick of a carbon wheel he did for an E class on the site next week. I will probably have him quote a price for doing a matching wheel and shift knob in carbon/leather. Said it would be about 5 weeks to have the wheel done up. He quoted me a price of $450 for the wheel, but maybe if we both moved together we could get a discount for ordering two.

If he could do the shift knob in carbon fiber I would be interested. If he could replace the "SPORT" label with maybe a "AMG" that would be awesome. Please post what you find out !

i sent him an email about wood-leather steering wheel & shift knob
he responded:
Dear Sir
Yes we can do this work. Cost is 435.95 to do wood/leather conversion.
However the proccess itself does take a minimun of 4-5 weeks inhouse
to convert and repair the wheel. If leather only then only 3-4 days.
We wish it was shorter but the proccess is intensive and takes time.
We do have free loaners though for clients in the continental US
while we do this work
As for the knobs we have some MB knobs that we can send as loaners
but since they are loaners are not a perfect fit but will get you around while we do the work on your knob
Wood leather conversion work on a knob also is a 4-5 week timeframe
Cost as follows
Steering wheel Wood/leather conversion 435.95
Steering wheel Leather only 199.95
AMG/brabus wheels / leather only 249.95
Knob/ wood leather 150.00
knob leather only 90.00
colors other than black
custom color charge 12.00
Loaner wheel/48 states free
Hawaii loaners- deposit needed
shipping/48 states 25.00
Canada 40.00
To see our woodgrains and carbon finish see our web site
for selections

Wheel
Hey NJ...I don't know what comparable work costs but offer him $400 with shipping inclusive or what you think would be 'reasonable' ...just food for thought, all he can say is 'no'.

Wow, I'll have to check my notes and see if I wrote them down...it'll be cheaper to have to have it recovered.

Yep - you told me you got those C43AMG, the one's he has mounted are MB though and just slip on without drilling. With regards to that CF wheel, that had to cost a small fortune....it looks way cool though.
