CF engine cover

Not sure how many of you saw this, but I suspect many would be interested:

I've been in contact with Kevin and paid a deposit to have one made. If all works out this seems like a decent deal and I'll share pics and data. If it turns out he scammed me I'll share that as well

Don't have a Mercedes right now...
I just need the MB emblem. It was missing from the cover when I got it. Do you know where to get it?

That cover looks awesome. Is $350 a good deal you think? How long will it take to get made?

Why would you buy a $350 engine cover that noone would see very often at all?

Just curious....

Thank you

That's different, they are visible, and sporty looking.... But fancy engine cover under the hood?

Some of us like to modify our cars and others don't. I don't spend money on the stereo, so I have a few extra dollars to spend on other trivial things :P

Dunno - would you consider it stock? Doesn't really matter to me. I just like customizing some of my rides. Okay... I actually do it to all of them, just in different forms. The Expedition is modified for gas mileage and ski trips whereas the wifes ride is modified for comfort, safety and durability. To each his own, no? I think it will be gratifying to me when I pop the hood and see the CF engine cover and airbox matched up. Maybe it'll look tacky, but that's a chance I'm willing to take.

It will look awesome. REAL car guys will find the engine bay just as intereting and important as the exterior or interior. Hell, I find myself playing with the mini chevy 350 models they display at auto zone for some oil brand. I play with it every time. Engines are interesting. At least half the cars at any given show will also have the hoods up to display whats beneath. The mystery of it is also a factor.

My first vehicle was 91' 454SS pickup. Spent a year detailing the engine with valve covers stainless/polished parts here and there. It was shiny as hell!!. Every time someone asked to see the big rat....they were stunned by the shine. My S/C is going to use an ML engine cover that will expose the intake manifold. I'm gonna polish the manifold so it stands out......for no one to see

I remember seeing your post some time ago about the parts you had sitting around which included the SC. This is the Gen1 HPS? I'm dying to know how this works out. There are a lot of successful installs of this - not so much with the Gen2. They still have a couple available and I keep threatening to add one myself. If/when I do I'll have to find a good home for all the CF stuff.

Agreed on that avatar. Looks like the dude I used to see in SF on my walk to work every morning. Broke and homeless, but always seemed happy to have awakened for another day.

There is a saying; "ÿou can argue about everything except the taste"

I respect your taste, I really can't argue about it, I was curious about the reasons..... Enjoy!

BTW; I am the only anti-mod here, I am just comfortable expressing my feelings. Like I mentioned before, I learn something everyday, I am enjoying reading all your posts and appreciate it. I certainly try not to hurt anyone's feelings, if I do please let me know. i didn't sign up here to annoy people and make enemies...

Yeah - I sent a pic of my airbox so he can match the mesh direction. Since it's a small operation he says this is a no brainer. Unfortunately it's about 3 weeks out due to some "real" business. Could be a scam, but the guy seems upright and owns a motorcycle shop. Plus I only sent half for the deposit.

BTW: I feel like I should start a petition to bring back the old c55m8o sig

Ok, OT I know....

Yup... They have my snow tires mounted on them. Here's a nice pik (finally got a 1/2 way decent one):

I like them when they're a little dirty to darken them up. I dont' like the clean bright silver color. Can't get them in anthresite anymore.
