C43 to C50 conversion 5.0L motor

Hmmm I wonder if anyone ever thought about doing a 5.0L(E500,CLK500) conversion to a C43. The car would run in the 13's all day long! Nice option if you blow up the 4.3 just drop in a 5.0L which could probably be purchased for less than the 5.5L. Just a thought.

Whats the output on the 500's???

Something that I have thought about for some time is swapping in the bottom end from an 03'+ M113 kompressor motor. Not sure if they made too many changes to still be swappable though?? From what I hear the internals of the M113 kompressor motor uses a lower CR and most likely forged or beefier internals. In my circumstance it would be perfect as the motor is a little more boost friendly.

...something I do know is that if I do deciede to seek a 5.5 it won't be from a CLK as the CR is those M113's is pretty high.

Aren't the 500s only outputting 306hp or something?

What you do is you get one of the new true 5.5s as in the E550. 382hp!

New 550 motor won't wrk. The 500 motor has 306 hp and 322ftlbs of tq. Believe me you can feel the difference between the 5.0l motor in a CLK and the 4.3L motor in the C43. CLK feels much torquier and stronger. The 5.0L motor I'm told just needs the crank rods and pistons from a 5.5L motor and you'll basically have the same displacement. This was the word from my MB mechanic. Personally I would just throw in the 5.0L motor If I could not get a 5.5L motor or just wait.

Not that I would plan on doing this right now, but what is the ballpark on the 5.0L motor as far as price? From what I've heard they make some great power. I'm hoping the 4.3L lasts for quite a while, but if it goes I'd like to upgrade to a little more power. Hopefully a chip + UDPs will keep me happy.
I don't want to go blower because it would effect drivability, but would like a little edge over stock.

Wow. That is a good deal. I kinda wish I had something to drop that in like a tired ML430 or something. These M113's are starting to remind me of chevy 350's in the sense that they are becoming more available and cross over between so many models and utilize so many similar parts.

Yes, I really wanted to do this swap, because the 5.0 motor has the bigger bore and shorter stroke. I wanted to raise the rev limit up to around 7500. I had real trouble finding anyone who knew how to raise the rev limit to any new point.

But Metric Motors would sell me a motor for something like $2000. If you went over the cylinder head and had some different cams with some light pistons and rods and the thing should make around 400 hp and get moving real fast.

how about 3.2L V6 from a 98-00 E320 or CLK320 to 97-00 2.8L V6 C280 then supercharge it? or already supercharged 3.2L V6 from C32? I heard 2.8L M112 engine is identical in size to m112 3.2L, so it should be a easy swap. Plus 98-00 E320 and CLK320 shares the same engine management. Well then the supercharge is a big cost but C32 engine would require ecu upgrade i guess and that should be cheaper. Thats 350Hp on a 300lbs lighter w202. You can use a 2000 C280 so you would have touchshift tranny as well.
