Widest rim/tire for c43?

Like the subject says, what is the widest Rear tire and rim I can run on the rear of the car without rubbing the fenders or shocks? My car is lowered now, oem tire now has about 1/2 - 3/4" fender gap.

I have the continental contisports in 255 on the rear 8.5 stock rims. The car is lowered on H&R springs with #4 pads in the rear. The tires ripped up the fenders when I installed them. I had to have some slight modifications done to the fender lips to run this tire size. Funny thing is that some people have run 255's on the C43 with no problem. I now have about 4-5 credit card thickness for clearance. It's very close.

...I will be attempting a 10" rear fitment with new wheels this summer. That should be interesting.

What a nightmare. I wouldn't recommend more than 225/40-18 front and 255/35-18 rear. That's what I have and no issue's at all.

I figured 255 would be it. I just test fit my 10's on the rear with a 265x35x18 and it was rubbing hard. I am debating on running a 245 (trying to stretch) or a 255/35/18.
Thanks for the heads up guys!

Whats the offset on your 10's??? around 40 maybe??

I'm gonna try and wedge 17x10's and hope I can keep the 255/17's....

ya offset is huge, offset is more important than width of tire.

What if I stretched a set of 245/40/18 kuhmo MXs on a 9.5", it would basically be as tall as a 35 profile tire right?

here's my tyre sizes on stock rims

235/45 17 inch = 643mm
255/40 17 inch = 636mm

Front is marginal. From the above here are peoples good and bad sizes

225/40 18 inch = 637mm
255/35 18 inch = 636mm
265/35 18 inch = 643mm

I suggest you keep the total diameter below 640mm for rear. This gives you the choice of a very nice

285/30 18 inch = 628mm

on a 9.5 to 10.5 inch rim.

Regards

Andy

The offset is huge on my wheels. 44, but they fit. I may pull the rear fenders. But with a 265x35x18 they fit on the rear, but rubber. I think I may stretch a 245x35 or 40x18 on it.

Big arm, get some lowering springs to start. H&R, EIBACH, INTRAX, whatever. do a search on google for C43 lowering springs or search on here.

Andy7 - thanks for that advice that is great! so based on your answer I can stretch a 235 or 245/40/18 over a 10" rim? 285 is WAY to wide for my c43 I was hitting hard with a 265.
