I did the black grill on both the 190 and C43. I like it myself. I did, however, leave the chrome border. I couldn't fully commit

FYI, i think i looked into these exact grilles before. i looked at the ebay seller's feedback, and i believe that i found that the quality was poor, and that they chipped easily, etc. and that they actually were not powdercoated. i think this is the same seller, but i cant be certain ... i havent rechecked the feedbacks to verify.

Thank you very much for the warning. I sent emails to 5 people who bought this item, waiting for their responses. I will let you know about the responses.

I have the grill, the quality of the metal is good, the grill is not powdercoated. Looks like it was sprayed with Satin Black paint. Looks great IMO. Better if it was powdercoated. I have some pics somewhere I can post them.

Dear sir, I would love to see the pictures. I could paint mine myself, but the plastic parts in the chrome frame are hard to paint (hard angle), or at least it looks hadr to paint. I believe you can purchase a powdercoat spray cans for DIYs like this. I gotta know if it is painted well, I mean does it chip easily? There is a solution for that too, just to paint several layers....
Anyways... It would be great if you email me some pictures to my mrvmax@hotmail.com
Thank you

Powder coat in a spray can? I thought powder coating was a fine powder adhered to the material via static charge which was then baked on. I could be wrong...

You are not wrong, I am.
I meant clear coat, not powder coat. I am no paint expert, I was talking about a clear coat on top of paint as protection. Does it make better sense?
sorry for confusion
here is an example

Yes - it does make sense. I did the same on my 190. Painted with a satin black and then covered with clear. It still gets chipped up though. The upside is that it's a very inexpensive way to see if you like the effect.
