Magnaflow exhaust for a C43 available in SF bay area...

If anyone is interested, I just when back to the stock exhaust from a custom designed magnaflow exhaust for a C43. Exhaust is from just behind secondary cats all the way to tips. Greatly improved sound and definite power increase.

The Magnaflow system is available for sale for a very reasonable price. I don't really want to ship it as it is pretty big. PM me if you are interested.

Might I ask why you went back to the stock exhaust?

C43 is my wife's car. I have an SLK32 and RS4 as well as a Touareg. We are thinking about selling the C43. When I got the exhaust it already had some ceramic high flow cats attached so I put it on the car as is. However, Mercedes run too hot for ceramic cats so I had to have them replaced once 18 months after the install and one just broke up a month ago after another 18 months. So instead of paying for metal cats or another ceramic that will burn out in 18 months and because we are now thinking of selling the car, I decided to just go back to stock.

Also, the Magnaflow exhaust doesn't fit as well, it is bigger and hangs lower so again, because we were thinking of selling the car, putting the stock system back on the car was the best option.

Like I said, there is no question that the system has a noticeable power boost. If we were going to keep car, I would have done metal cats. It also sounds great.

Probably just about $200. I know a good shop to get it installed. As for it fitting, the center section is quite a bit bigger than stock so it doesn't tuck up into the stock space as well. It has to hang down a few inches which makes going over speed bumps a litte more challenging especially if you car is lowered. However, it is not too bad, I did have it on the car for almost 3 years.

I'll take some pics this afternoon and post tonight. Personally I would not remove the resonator but of course that would be your choice. I think it sounded perfect as is. Any more and there would be too much resonance in the passenger compartment.

I would however either just remove the rear cats or get 100 cell metal mesh cats. I know where you can get some for a very reasonable price.

Did you get this system made by BMS?

I don't think so. I got it from someone on club202. I think it was made in Colorado.

Yep that is the BMS setup and they are in Col. I used to have that system on my car. 200.00 is not a bad price at all but I would definitely redesign that setup with the present parts you have there which are pretty good.

The picture includes the tips. The tips are pretty close to stock, just bigger. I paid $750. There is no sign of corrosion. The setup will last more many years. Like I said, the cats need to replaced or eliminated. One of the two of them is broken up but I've already explained all of that.

I think I can get you some metal cats for $100 each. Yes, you can replace it with ss pipe but stainless is pretty expensive. The shop where I got the stock system reinstalled, Bay Muffler in Mountain View, did a great job and only charged 2 hours @ $80 per hour. I would think it would only be 3 hours to install cats or straight pipe so I think it would cost you $200 for my exhaust, $240 for the install, and $200 for 2 cats (optional). However, you get great sound and a noticeable hp increase. I won't make any claims about hp because I did not dyno but you can find threads about the exhaust on club202.com and read for yourself.

I live in Saratoga, near 85 and Saratoga Ave.
