1) I tend to agree with ECTurboGSX - you won't get back what you put into it, why not keep it?
2) I bought a C43, also glacier white, with 70k a year and a half ago for $13.5k. Yours looks and sounds like it is well-maintained, but only a few buyers will translate that into extra cash, so you will have to be patient to get top dollar. I would also ask around $12k for yours, but at least at first expect to get close to that.
3) Is it a '98 or '99? With all the detail you show, you don't say.
4) I hate the wheels. This is only relevant in that, if I were buying the car, I would already be mentally calculating the cost of replacing them. Sorry.
5) How has your car had a service at 90k miles if it only has 87k miles?
. If that's all I can get I am better off keeping the car.BTW - front bumper is now fixed, due to broken bracket inside the bumper. Never been in any accident whatsoever.
Thanks much,
_A

In all due respect to you, I don't think that your car was in a condition, or had the history, to get top dollar. I give you kudos for your honesty in portraying the car in your ads, with good details on the good and bad points. It's not that the car was bad, but with others available in the market, I'd have moved on if I were looking for the best one out there. I read your earlier and later ads on ebay, and I saw all kinds of things that registered as items that would cost me to fix or to bring back to original, or, viewed another way, deducts from top dollar. I'm not trying to flame you or your car, but just making a point that price depends..... on miles, cosmetic and mechanical condition, records, originality, damage history, and location too.
By contrast, what's the market for a mint, original 2000 C43 with 40K miles from the original owner with all service records, no damage history, and has lived in SoCal, etc? (not my car BTW). I think it could still be $20K or more.
He did the mature thing in his situation and bit the bullet and moved on.Now let's leave him be.

Mine's got less than 40K miles on it and I wouldn't sell it for $20. Does that mean I would buy it today for $20? I don't know. I can tell you that I really don't want an E55, I want a V8 C-class. That leaves a C55 or better yet, a C63.
These Mercedes forums are the places where people appreciate these vehicles.
You might get more money in Europe, like I mentioned before, most Americans don't know much about these performance cars, they think it is an unnecessary luxury vehicle.
So I would try to advertise just like you are doing, and if you didn't yet, do the same post on all Mercedes models, C Class, E Class, M Class, X Class, Z Class, all AMGs, and so on...
Good luck
(I hope you don't sell it to those Eminem type of gentlemen
, they might end up with chrome/croc rims, or purple velvet seats
)
I would try to wait to sell your car, cause of the tiny recession in almost the whole world. World is at boiling point, you will lose and already losing value at almost eveything nowadays. Can you wait for couple months if your finances allow you, I am pretty sure later on you might get better value.
Business is slow, $'s value is going down, 93 octane is $3.20 in GA, I would tighten the belts little more before selling it. But I also understand that current economy might as well be the reason for the sale.
good luck again

I think most collectors look for cars under 40k miles not regarding year model. 60-70k miles may seem too little for a car which is almost 10 years old but i dont think thats little enough for the collectors who would pay the top dollar.
well marketing is also very important, private sellers has lower chance of getting top dollar. this 99 C43 got 21900 because it was tru a respected mb dealer which had probably 100s of loyal customers they knew who to call to sell that car in fact they sold it in 4 days.
as for the main topic. i am also curious about the 90k service for a 87k miles car. I am also one of those who would pay a bit less than its value because of the not original finish wheels. i think the price of gas is also lowering the values of these cars. i see c230 kompressors go for the same money or very close.

I understand where your coming from. My car was in amazing shape though, you could ask anyone who has seen it in person. Besides the close ups that I showed on the ebay auction the car was flawless. Having such low mileage as well, it really disappointed me to the resale value of these amazing cars. In terms of me not having past service records, you have to remember that every time a car is serviced at a dealership, its recorded onto the carfax. Right before I sold it to the guy, I replaced all the initial problems as shown in the ebay auction...I changed both Xenons, replaced the worn brake pads, had the A/C recharged and it still was difficult to sell the car. You can't compare a 1999 C43 to the sale of a 2000 really due to the rarity of the 2000's being only 25 in existence. We just have to face the depreciation of Mercedes. Whoever has a C43, keep it. Its an amazing car, and certainly worth more in terms of what it is, then in terms of money. I just had to unfortunately get rid of mine. No hard feelings Jon, I take no offense.
