The pump itself isn't bad, it's the labor to have it replaced - there's very little room around there to work. A couple of bolt heads sheared off on mine when my mechanic was trying to remove the old one which didn't help the situation... cost just under $1000 for the pump and thermostat replacement. Mine had about 77k miles on it when it had to be replaced.

water pumps to fail on the M112 and M113 engines aren't commmon, but they happen from time to time.
$450 total is very good, the C43 and slk55 would probably be the slowest pumps to change due to the limited front end space.

I've had no problems with Autohaus parts - most stuff is by OEM manufacturers, i.e. Bosch, ATE, Jurid, Behr (their parts have a warranty just like MB and in fact have been better than MB with their customer service by a loooong shot) - But hey, it's your money so throw it away at your behest...

If
having a star on it and paying 300 bucks more for the same part rows your boat,ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
Autohausaz, germanstar are warrantied parts by oe manf.
oe spark plugs are $2.99 ea. at the local parts store. Do you really pay 20 bucks at the dealer just because they have a star?(which I don't think they do)
