How many of you had your belt tensioner replaced?
The new tensioner parts number is 112 00 970 I think it was, last digits ends with 970. I was thinking of changing this part for safety reasons only.
Is there a part that tenses out the belt to be tight, it looks like a mini shock, described as a tension mini shock I think>? please describe it for me or send me a picture from DETALI RUSSIA if there is such a part?
I also want to know if you had to change anything else such as?
waterpump
acc idler pulley
thermostat
multi rib belt
Harmonic Balancer
Anything else I have forgotten? please fill in
happy motoring cheers.

I had to replace both the HB and and the belt tensioner. The belt tensioner was gone for a few weeks before I repalced it. It made a loud ticking/banging sound when I would have the HVAC system running. Not sure how bad they get but mine wasn't a danger to the vehicle at the time. In time I'm sure it could get worse and cause problems. It was an updated part that I replaced it with.
The HB recall was done when I bought the car but the damage it caused required me to replace the upper oil pan..catch this one beforehand cause it could rough things up when it goes.
The belt tensioner is pretty reliable on the M112 and M113 engine. usually the damper inside the tensioner wears out and it becomes noisy at idle. It's life is also shortened by a leaking oil filter housing (oil gets inside the tensioner). I would only change it if it fails, no need to change it early.
