Well I am currently having the same issue. My code was P0101 and the OBD ll reader listed the problem as MAF or VAF...just another name for the Air Mass Sensor depending on the vehicle make. I cleaned my sensor twice and it's better. It keeps a steady idle at around 1000 rpms as opposed to dropping below 500 as it was doing before. I did all the steps you guys listed here and currently have a new MAF on the way! ( New MAF was $177). I haven't driven the car yet since I cleaned the sensor ...will do so when i get home to see if the CEL (Check Engine Light) goes away.

i guess ill just order another one, since i think i know what the problem is, i gave the car to my older brother when i got ther new maf in from german star, asked him to put it in, idiot never put back in the filters so im assuming that its probably shot from all the **** and dust going in there.

So you now have the new MAF installed? If so, check those filters. That's an easy fix if that's the problem otherwise, something else isn't quite right.

New MAF resolved CEL problem!

Alright fella's,

Can you say smooth operator? No more CEL, engine hesitation or high idling! After installing the new MAF the CEL was still on so I drove it to the nearest autozone to get use the OBD ll reader. I turned the car on enough where the dashboard lights up, connected the reader and received the same code So I erased the code and ran it again...all while the dash is still lit. So then I thought hhmmm it's still grabbing the same old code...so then I cleared the reader again, disconnected it from the car....turned the car completely off, reconnected the reader, turned the car on and it came back with a PASSED reading! ahhhhh finally I am back! It was the MAF all along...it was just bad. I'm good to go now.
