C43 Aftermarket Front Brake discs

Hi guys,

Can anyone suggest where I can get some discs other than from the stealer ship. I have looked on the net but nothing here comes up in the uk as the uk seems useless for this sort of thing!

Crossdrilled would be nice and also am I correct to say that the only other car with the same setup is the w210 e55? ..........................actually I just checked on the net and the 320,430 and 55 all have the same part number PRBR34101 in the states and sell for $43.69 http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/

cheers

Cross-drilled brakes are mostly for show. Even the rotors on my GT3 crack.

Stay with OEM solid discs if you can get them.

I finished up replacing my brakes a couple weeks ago. I honestly don't think there is an aftermarket option for the discs, unless you replace everything with a BBK. The disc italia brand "I was told" are simply OEM rotors with the crossdrilling done to them. I settled with the OEM rotors(which are heavy but very nice), some EBC red pads, and stainless lines. I had things powdercoated so it all looks pretty through the wheels.

As far as performance goes the car stops great now. Its hard to tell the difference of the stainless lines because I replaced everything at the same time...they are a good upgrade regardless. They look cool too Now I have to wash my wheels/brakes after every drive as I can't let these become dirty

i pay about 50 bucks a month for unlimited washes at this local place that caters to all the wealthy country clubs in my area. even though it goes through a machine they do a decent job, they even wipe my exhaust tips and calipers down, very thorough.

i wax my car every couple weeks to combat any damage which the machine wash may attempt... if i had to handwash my car every time it was dirty id be washing it 3-4 times a week and it would either take way too much time, or way too much money so i just buy the unlimited washes and let the wax deal with it...

Submit these #'s and your model year/vin# to Rbrenton whom can be found in the classifieds I believe. No question the best deal I've found on C43 rotors. Shoot him a PM with what you need and the part # and he'll respond with a qoute. He is a great asset to the board so try and save him some work by finding the part #'s yourself. I also replaced the L and R wheel bearings as I had the parts already. They are a little harder to replace than the brakes but if you have the rotors off they are accesable. Probably good for a high milage car, mine only has 75K so it wasn't a must, I'm just OCD....the pads and SS lines can be found all over the net.

they crack.
Slotted or dimpled are great or tirerack has cryo treated with akebono pads.

Since AMG rotors are so expensive (4x the price of my 430 brakes), has anyone ever looked into using aftermarket hats and rotors up front? The hats would be a one time purchase, at $80 to $100. After that, rotors should be substantially less than factory parts. For the hats, you'd need to measure the offset of the stock rotors, and make sure the bolt pattern was right. Looking at the Wilwood catalog, it's hard to envision them not having a hat that will work. Ditto for the rotors.

NICE SETUP! What side of the car is the picture showing nitrogenbalance?
Do any of you guys know the MB brand of REAR brake pads? I replaced the pads with okebonos and they squeak like crazy when I reverse. The fronts are great but I dont know what happened with the rear. The original MB rear pads did not squeak at all so I want to go with that brand. Anyone know?

The Zimmerman rotors which are an OEM German make are not drilled after machining , but the holes are cast into the disc blank.

They are very reasonably priced and can use any type of pad...I use the Textar with the Zimmerman.

They won't crack....

Thats an awesome idea and would probably be alot less weight as well. From my domestic hot rod days I know that wilwood makes some pretty nice products. Gonna check it out. Its worth looking into.

I'm currently working on using a Brembo 2 piece rotor with a custom hat. AMG rotors are 335mm x 32mm, the closest Brembo is 332mm x 32mm. I'm going to let everyone know once I confirm they will work or if I can get a 335mm rotor. They with definately be slotted though.

I've been stock piling old undersize rotors from customers cars to give out to different companies as templates. Current Australian dealership prices for front pads, disks and brake fluid for a C43/CLK55/E55 is around $2500AUD ($2200US).........not acceptable when I can even get ML63 brakes (390mm diameter drilled) cheaper!!!!!

Dude your nuts Its just a car bud, and it doesn't change anything about who we are. Yes!! my 98' MB(which is worth less than my ford...) is just soooo baller status that a red carpet rolls out from beneath. I'm too busy to answer simple questions that can be answered with a search simpleton. I'm one of the most polite members here and have posted many threads with useful information to help other C43 owners. Get your head out of your vagina fool. I really don't understand you....... please go away.
