Supercharged C43, time to go...

Had a bad injury last spring that is continuing to make my life more difficult. Its been hard to accept but the car should really be sold. I never have time to drive it and it sits in a garage. When I do have time I end up cleaning it. Its becoming an expensive statue. Over 10K in mods and will have (5) renntech monolites with (1) refinished spare. Car makes serious twist for a 43. Tons of new parts including 2 week old breaks. I was hoping you guys could give me an idea of how I should price it before I put it up everywhere. Very sad day as I put a couple years of hard work into it. I'll post up a list of all the mods later.

What do you guys think?

....sorry to hear about your nagging injury. It sounds like its back related as its keeping you from driving the car.

Now's probably the worst time to sell a V8 powered car. ..and w/ the price of gas and the economy there will be NO good time to sell a car like your 43.

I'm sure there's someone out there that can appreciate what it is, but it might be like the proverbial " Hens Tooth " of a customer.

Try listing it on Ebay Russia,or Ebay Europe. I know a wholesaler who sells nothing but Benz's and BMW's to Russians as they are all thriving over there and love AMG's. They pay you extra to drive it to Jersey to load it on a container.

Hate to say it, but a fairly clean example of a 190E 2.3 16 valve Cossie is probably going to fetch as much or more money than your car. Its a 4 banger thats got decent mpg's plus it seems to be currently hot. I know, I've been trying to get one these past few weeks.

Looks like I found a Eurospec one in California....but I digress.

What ever you decide to do, good luck. I was hoping to meet you and your car this summer at the track or a GTG.

Cheers.

No back injury, I still play lacrosse weekly full contact. I had a bad fall/concussion that left me unconsious for over an hour. It cost me about 20K and alot of missed time/$ at work. I have another car and keep this one stored 10 miles from where I live. I just have to be realistic about my priorities with career advancement and paying off debt. My tech just hit me up and thinks that parting out may be a better way.

Hate to see it parted out, but its the best way to get excellent money for the car.

Its the same problem with Audi S4's.

We put sooo much money and time into the car,but the resale is hideous.

Nobody wants to part an S4, but the guys that do make a killing.

The only car I ever regretted selling was my 914-6 . In my 44 yrs, I've had some sweet cars come and go, but you get over them pretty fast.

When the time is right, you'll get something even better.

Your tech is probably right. It sure seems hard to get decent $ for modded MB's. Just look at the ridiculous offers Mario was getting for his E55.

I'm sorry to hear about this, your C43 was always my favorite one on the board. Your mechanic is correct in that parting out would be the best route unless you can find an true enthusiast in the market who understands the quality of work and efforts put into what appears to be a truly sweet 202, the latter being very rare. You already have interest for the supercharger and I'm sure those monolight's will be gone in no time.

Interesting story follows Mario's E55, he ended up trading it in when he bought his mini-cooper, I think they gave him like $13-14k

Good luck w/sale Nitrogen

wow- i'll be the only one... no one to back me up about how quick our cars are!

You should sell the supercharger, wheels and other mods seperately. I'd almost be willing to pick it up and part that stuff then sell as stock for hte right price... i've got a 2.5 car garage to my self as of next week (but already have one car to part)

you really should try the euro route. i know for a fact that you make HUGE profit with black amg cars, silver might be good too. this is largely in part to the exchange rate. the euro is about 2 dollars now. but mercedes still sells german built cars to the united states for the same price it always has, hence causing a problem for mercedes and a god-send for you. think about it this way- a c43 new was approx 60k, same with a c63.. well back when the c43 was new the american dollar was as strong or stronger than the euro. now that the euro is twice as strong, and the car market does not swing as much, you end up winning bigtime in the exchange process. shipping is around 2-3k. import taxes in european nations runs 15-18%. even with these values you can still cash in your leftover euro's to wind up with more than 20k american dollars.

theres a lambo dealership in my area that buys only black amg mercedes and does the same thing, they make about 18k profit on a e63, considering that they pay a serious amount of tax on a $85k car they still make out very very well...

look into it, it may be well worth your while.

good luck, sad to see the beast go, apart from the w202 c55, i definitely admired your car the most... pm me for price of wheels if willing to sell...

How far of a drive is toronto? For anyone that would be interested in the car as-is you should really see it in person and drive it. I don't know what to price it at yet but have been researching in order to price it right for both parties.

I should have a better idea how this will unfold in the next week or two. I'm going to first find out what my time looks like if I deciede to remove the renntech wheels and supercharger. If the wheels go I would need someone to buy them + trade their current wheels possibly. Some of the other mods like the custom exhaust, interior, gauges, suspension, stereo, etc..would be easier to leave in the car. I'll probably start with the wheels then the supercharger and post them seperatly, unless I can find a fair price as a package deal that someone wants.

If you want an honest opinion, mine is that you should price it according to the high end of market prices for standard C43's. If you have documentation for the car (including your mods) then I think this would be fair, especially if you find the right enthusiast. If I were in the market, I would probably feel comfortable paying around 15k, maybe a little more depending on the condition of the rest of the car. Hope that helps!

I know i paid 15,400 for mine 20 months (and a lot of mods ago) and would comfortably sell it for less than that now. My car does have higher miles than yours though... so you may be able to squeeze a bit more out of it. I would not be including my stereo stuff in the sale at that price- nor would i ever expect a buyer who wants it.

btw- did you ever get that polished intake on the car?

the milage is 78K. Car is in NH.

Silence, the intake is pretty much finished. Needs a final polish and install. Probably put it in the classifieds. I have another set of phelonic spacers to go with it. The whole bottom case has a thermo barrier coating. Awesome piece for anyone that knows how to r/r an intake mani.

Pretty much certain I'm going to start selling parts at this point. I'm waiting on one wheel in the mail and then the monolites will go first. I'll post them up next week. The SC is gonna take a week or two to remove.

let now if i can help as you take the SC off

also, hit me up with a pm about $$ for that extra manifold and spacer. i don't know how to r&r the manifold, but i'm willing to figure it out!

I don't know that i have any stock parts left that will help you, but if i do i'll send them your way.

Have you thought about a price for the wheels? Sorry to hear about the injury and that the car has to go.
