Where to buy stock shocks for C36 AMG
is there a place other than the dealer that I can get the stock AMG shocks for a 1995 C36?
I am going back to the stock suspension and my car came with Bilstein sports.
Thanks

I put Bilstein HD's on my C43, and they feel great - firm but comfortable, just like stock. The sports would be too firm for my taste (from past experience on other cars). I looked at the Bilstein website and they don't even list a shock specifically for the C43 (nor C36 as I recall). I finally got the Bilstein site to confirm that the C280 shocks in either HD or Sport would fit. I didn't even check with the dealer because of the anticipated price.
I ended up buying the HD's from Tirerack -- best price I found and great service.

This isn't the OEM shock for C36.
Thanks anyway.

"not enough rebound dampening". It may be worn out shocks and not the valving.
I used to think that Bilsteins lasted a million miles, but I've learned that this is not true. They wear out with time as well as miles due to very slow loss of gas pressure and fluid. I have experienced it with my '91 Vette with 30K miles and heard it on the Corvette Forums from an engineer that worked at Bilstein. The amount of rebound I was getting on the Vette was really bad with the original Bilsteins. New HDs were a revelation.

Interesting info. Thanks
If I have to change the shocks, I will be switching to externally adjustable Koni's.
