NEED HELP ASAP!!!!!!
this thing started yesterday and it happened to me twice; before i went to the dealership my car's tranny wont shift up it gets stuck on second gear so i pulled over and turn off the engine and then after a few second i start it and run and shift like a champ without any hesitation, so i took it for a tranny service filter, fluid etc etc, after the service was completed they test drove it still ran like a champ, i told the mechanic what happened to me earlier and he did hooked it up to a code reader and gave him a transmission code saying to check the SPEED SENSOR, he said; just observe the car if it will act up again, so i drove off the dealership and after driving for about 3 miles it did happened to me again and just turned of the engine and the car ran like a champ again...did this thing happened to anybody??? coz im 99% sure its not my tranny coz after i shut off the engine and turn it back on it just ran and shift like brand new, did anybody changed their SPEED SENSOR...PLS HELP I DONT WANT MY CLEAN C43 TO DIE ON ME!!!!...THANX IN ADVANCE

The computer and harness along with labor and misc. parts was about $1400. Not cheap. You def. want to have it checked out throughly because a cheap fix now means more $$$$ down the road. But like i said i hope that this is not the issue. Keep us updated.

You need a speed sensor and they determined this AFTER the transmission service? They have to replace about 5 quarts of fluid to change the sensor. You may want want to ask about a price reduction because they really should have caught this beforehand.
I had a P0715 code last year. That's the speed sensor failure code. I had the same symptoms. I don’t think they can tell you whether it’s the speed sensor or the plate that it sits on until they remove the plate. The plate is in the transmission, and that's why you're going to lose 5 quarts of fluid. To get to the sensor, they drop the pan, pull the filter, remove the valve body, and then remove the plate. At that point they can test the sensor and check the plate. In my case, the plate was cracked. That resulted in a bad signal from the sensor.
They replaced the plate and did the infamous "transmission wiring harness o-ring job". My o-ring wasn't leaking, but it's a $2 o-ring, and they were right there, so it made sense to do it. The total bill was about $800. I have a parts list if you're interested.

What dealer did you call? I can't imagine anyone turning down a simple repair like this. You can call ARA@ 562-804-4679 he's a master MB tech for many years.

penske in west covina..i called one MBZ shop and he said i could do it for $700 parts and labor..is that sound right??? or he said he can have the computer re-learn the tranny for $100...does it sound right?? it only goes to LIMP MODE at least once in a blue moon n just pull over to turn off the car and start it again and run like a champ..no check engine or what so ever...thanks

i dont think its the actual tranny coz it only goes to limp mode once in a blue mood all i have to do is turn off the ignition then after a minute turn it back on, it runs and shift like a champ...just did the tranny service 2 weeks ago, fluid, gasket and filter..

can be triggered by the leaking o ring and fluid leaking up to the tcu.
Go to the w210 forum on benzworld and follow the diy r/r get the parts about 20 bucks and clean the harness with tuner cleaner and replace the fitting. You more often than not have fluid in there and not a bad sensor or plate.
722.6 transmissions are known for this problem.
