Very long and rough start up....yet no codes?
So my car has been doing this a couple times each week for the past month. Only on cold start ups when the car sits over night. It turns right over but fumbles and shakes as if its trying to stay running. Similar to a really bad vacuum leak. After a few long seconds it idles up and runs fine the remainder of the day including several startups. Other than that the car seems to be running fine otherwise. No codes either, defenitly something emmisions related to the cold startup...I'm thinking..

Huh...gas in vacuum line? sounds odd. However, this is odd.
The fuel filter was replaced about 1-2 years ago.
280_nz: would you be talking about the sensor that goes into the coolant resivior?
I just with it would throw a code so I could figure this out, its touch trying to diagnose without the luxury of codes.

nah that sensor you are talking about is for radiator water level, and only is attached to a light on the dash,
im not sure as to you case it was just a sugustion, but i was talking about the water temp sensor that the ecu uses for cold starting/ fuel maps etc, which should be on the water pump or somewhere like that,
on my c280 it was being a pita to start when it was warm, but only sometimes, and i tracked it down to a faulty temp sensor, it would try and cold start when it was warm and flood it.
i figured it out because i run a wideband full time, and normally on a cold startup it runs around 12:1 until it warms up then it settles around the 14.7:1 mark, and then when it was warm, but when i say warm i mean i would have to leave it say and hr or two, for example if i went to the movies i would come out and it wouldnt start, but if i just stoped it for less than 5 min it would be fine,
but then some times it wouldnt start cold aswell, intimitant problems are the worst to find,
i am always hesitant giving out info like this as i dont wish someone else to buy a new sensor and find it not to be the problem, but find its location on that parts catalogue site, and next time its giving u greif unplug the sensor, and see if it starts better then, thats sortof how i got there, unpluging sensors when it was playing up and saw which ones made it better and worse.

Make sure the harness is also on tight on the MAF. I 've run into that problem from time to time because mines comes a lil loose based on my intake setup.
