c36 conversion
how often do 36's get converted into 55's? or is it mainly 43's that get converted. If it isnt so unheard of, whats required to do to the car to handle the extreme boost in power? transmission, brakes, etc...
Anyone done it with their 36?
For a 55 conversion, you would use a C43 because they are both V-8's already. Nothing much has to be changed except (I think) the tranny.. and thats about it. From the 4.3 to the 5.5 it will give you roughly 50hp ontop, the 5.5 pumps out roughly 350hp..
So its just easier to start with a 43 since the wiring harness is there and only an ecu reflash or swap is needed.

My worry about a supercharger is that I already have 130xxx on the car and have heard that a kleeman will only stress the engine to much with those many miles... Is that correct? or just more bs....

C36 are kind of a rarity or at least finding one that it close to stock and hasn't been ruined by mods.

And about the Kleeman supercharger,, these 3.6's are one of the best built engines, their cast iron blocks!! I've seen a guy add a Bi-Turbo to his C36 stock block pumping out 561HP! Actually these AMG engines perform BETTER as they age aswell. But adding a supercharger would definitly take away the AMG stockness.. But it all depends on what you personally like.

If I can't find a decent one, I might go with a BMW 850i

Kleemann dosen't make a kompressor for the C36.
Correct, the only official kit that ever was released by a major tuner was the twin turbo Mosselman turbo, other then that all the FI C36s have been custom and done by individuals. With that said its an amazing motor to boost with its bulletproof internals
You may be able pick up 45bhp with alot of mods sans boost? Might take every N/A mod available though...
I have seen it personally and its a flawless car. Looks and sounded to be very well cared for... Hope it helps a little, if your seriously looking to buy one
Benzmaster- I have also heard before that the 36's do age well and perform just as strong since day one. But is it just myth that says they perform better? Anyone else with their two-cents worth on this opinion?
car runs well- I'm happy with the power and love to drive it (the once a month I take her out, lol). I'm still slowly but surely cleaning things up and making it all pretty- plus finishing that new stereo install I started about a year ago.
I'm in no rush anymore at all- I really focused all year on training/racing my bikes, a season which just basically ended. It's getting a bit cold here now, but I plan to focus a bit more on the car for a bit now and perhaps get it fully up to the show quality I want for next spring. Regardless, my main focus will be my racing.
At some point I will get it on a dyno again- but have no real plans to upgrade it from how it stands now...
somewhat of an aside- we do plan to pick up another "nice" car here in just over 20 months. We are thinking of an r500.
