thats sick. I just found out about the place last month and I was honestly pissed I never knew there was an auto-X track relatively close to home. I can not wait to wait

And Greg, something about those numbers sounds iffy. I know for a fact that C36's can do mid 14's easy....something must have been off. The only reason I insist is because the only thing I consider legit is time slips and Jon's got them...he aint lyin'! Do you have any timeslips scanned in that you could PM me by any chance? I want to start collecting some real world numbers, maybe we could even plan a trip to a local track when we get together for a meet this summer (Lime Rock Raceway Possibly). Now that would be ****.
Can't trust the pubs? *I think* there are two reasons why you're seeing different numbers.

One: Drag racing is an art. I worked with a guy who could drive, and I mean really drive. He ran a 13.8 in a car that I couldn't get below a 14.1. Same car, same day, the only difference was talent. I've gotten a lot better, but I'm still not as fast as Greg Smalls.

Two: Magazines don't rent tracks for months on end to test cars. Electronic equipment is used (a GPS box - NOT a GTech) and most of the time a "track" isn't involved. Even when at the track, GPS boxes are used - and they're not used like most people think they are.

It's tough to replicate a number if you don't know how it was recorded. The trap speed however, we'll, that number doesn't lie.

I'll put a web page up at Signal to Noise that explains how cars are tested. It should be up in a couple of days.

Marcus, as always you never fail to clear things up as well as educate others. Be sure to update us with the link, should be a great read. Will be very much appreciated, and I can safely assume I'm speaking for all of "us".

Marcus,

Another thing to consider is track prep. If the magazine is doing the sprint down a runway with a GPS box hooked up, they're probably not going to get the same ET as someone who goes to a Friday night drag and is on a track that has been treated with VHT.

I agree, the trap speed is more indicative of how much power the car is making. You really need all the other info to glean anything from the ET, such as 60' time.

Haha its funny since a "brand new un-broken in" AMG is supposedly supposed to run 14.4 atleast.
And what do you think I'm dreaming these numbers up!?? I got them straight from Jon!
0-60 at 5.6 seconds on many runs JUST like he got (All Stock) sounds about right.
Now just because you got a MUCH worse time with your C36 doesn't mean ALL are that slow.

Using one of those performance boxes, I got a consistent 5.8 from 0-60 on my C43 with bad plugs and wires. Scanned my car and got a bunch of misfire codes

1995 C 36 AMG; 1992 W124 300E (M103 Ex Mosselman TT KIT) was 320hp @10psi now stock :(
all i can say that i have raced 2 other 36s with mine and i pulled on both so maybe some are faster than others.
When i first got mine i was told by several ppl who are not related or even known to each others that this one i got is known to be faster than the avg c36s they have seen. Its previous owner who has the 43 even said that its faster than his up to 125mph atleast.

So a good kept and taken care of c36 can make 14 secs@99mph any less and its up to the track conditions on that day.

DAM RIGHT I WILL! As soon as the snow clears up into spring-summer time here, I buy my permanent daily driver (Jeep) and make the C36 ready for the track. Lot's of work ahead, but it will come in soon time.
Anywho, I'm talking about Jon's C36 AMG which is in perfect running order.
Oh and BTW, no need for such a stupid reply like that Greg.

chilll chill chill, you've got to take all of v0ac's posts with a huge gigantic iceburg sized grain of salt. I dont think he really "READS" everything or has a hard time understanding. But he does know something I know nothing about......

v0ac, why would you cook crack in the microwave? Sorry for my ignorance, btw this thread has gone wayyyyy off topic but it's amusing and I have gotten good information from it while the integrity lasted.

Yeah, I've got many friends that are walking that side of the track that I've since distanced myself with. Only difference is thier all dealers, not addicts so I'm not very well versed on the ways to use the stuff. Well at least we know v0ac is deff not a crack addict. Tin foil in microwaves is bad.

So, when are you going to Mexico to run this guy? The longer it takes the more BS gets spread around. And you never know, he may be Puerto Rican stock. (highly modified)

ehh I do this ***** all the time, swapped all four springs out on my W124 in my driveway 4 and a half times within the three years of ownership. I put stocker springs back in for the winter. I will NEVER EVER go through that 8 hours of bull***** again in my life after finding out $180-$200 could have made it a 2 hour job. Gunna buy one, either way its good to know man and if I do need one you will be my savior. You're a good man Greg......a good man.

Not sure if you actually read threads throughly or prehaps even read this whole thread but currently getting a set date and time is becomming a very dodgy subject with the dude. Who knows if it will ever even come to fruition, I will go for it if given the opportunity. Puerto Rican stock doesnt scare me if thats the case. I know 10 seconds in I'll be wincing to see their plate numbers. I fear more for thier safety when they start to exceed 100mph. In the end I'm in a Mercedes. Conclusion? 0-60mph runs are pretty shallow performance perspectives. What's really exhilarating is passing someone going 120mph when your rip up from behind at over 150mph. Knowing a puerto rican "modified" honda, it'll have chopped springs and at the speeds I'm capable of egging them up to, they will be in a timed death trap.
