1998 MERCEDES C280 WILL NOT START PLEASE READ & HELP

ok well Im trading in my mercedes c280 and I was going to pull the car out of my driveway and i was slipping... so put the traction control on put it into 2nd and tryed it again .. then did it with the t/c on.. still nothing... so i go to put it back in park and it wouldnt go in park.... so long story short i take the whole shipping assembly out and there was a big piece of plastic in there... connect everything back works fine goes threw all the gears.. but the car will not start... any ideas.. i tryed disconnecting the battery for a minute or 2 but i didnt leave it off longer than that... its sitting at the top of my driveway with the battery disconnected... will that reset the computer/car... and is there anything else i need to do ?

"It will not start" may not be enough information. If it doesn't turn over, I would guess that the sensor that determines the gear selector positioning is out of alignment (IE the car doesn't think it's in park).

I have no idea what the first part of the problem was.

Sounds like something isnt right in your shifter module after taking it apart.

Since it won't turn over while in park, plant your foot securely on the brake and try it in reverse. IF it starts, as soon as it's running put it in park. If reverse doesn't work, try neutral. If that doesn't work, try drive. The part about the brakes applies to drive as well.

Hopefully this works. If you skip the brake part, and the car starts please post pictures of the wreckage that follows. Someone may have a spare rear bumper. The rest are in it for the entertainment value.

I believe you're right, it was 00 or 01 when that started. My fault, it's been a long day

It might be time to take it in and see if they can establish communication with the shifter module.

i dont have anyway of getting it to a mercedes dealership.. the closest one is like an hour away... could i use one of those computers that have at auto zone and hook it up and see what happens.. or could i just get a whole new shifter assembly... i could get one really cheap at my local u pull it place. i heard that might fix it... im uploading a video right now and it should be done in the mouring cause its taking forever. but like i said i really dont have the money to be taking it to a dealership... i need a way to fix it even if its for a little while :/

Where are you located? You need to find a inde shop to service the car. The MB dealer will charge you more then needed.

If you have one you can pull thats close by, then by all means I would try that first before taking it somewhere else.
