Fog light wiring issue C43

My Driver side fog is flickering so I went underneath and discovered the two pronged wire that the bulb attaches to on one end and goes to a small square shaped connector on the other is just rusted away. This two wire connector is about 6'' long.Went to the STEALERSHIP and the parts guy tells me i have to purchase the ENTIRE foglight housing complete @ $237.00This I find hard to believe.Anyone know if this is so or is this another a** move by the STEALERSHIP? Any assistance is appreciated!

I had fog light out when I got my car. One was a simple bulb swap. Common bulb. I think H7 was the size. The other side was a loose wire. I wiggled the wire that connected into the rear of the light and it came on. My buddy noticed that the wire connected into the back of the light assembly and then from there a similar male/female setup into the light bulbs rear. It seemed to be overkill and he simply cut out the middle assembly and connected it right to the light. The rear side is silicone sealed. I run them a lot with no issues.

I hope that helps. Sorry i don't have the technical jargon to describe it better. Bottom line is it was fixed for $7.00 and about 10-15 min. Good luck

Ahhhh....I re-read your post. I think you'll notice the same male female end is on the wire that goes to the back of the cover assembly. Get rid of the 6" end and go direct into the bulb with the main unit. Seal the hole with some silicone. You'll have to get back in there to replace a bulb some day so don't go nuts. Just enough to keep it from getting wet. Hope that helps. Test the wires with a meter if you can. Surely test that the bulb will work before making changes.

$237- ?? You could have a custom shop install a whole new system. I think a basic fog light kit is 20- Hit up the junk yards for some 202 foglights. You may get lucky and get one cheap.

I believe MB sells a wire parts kit to repair the foglight connectors, I'd have to see a C43 one to know if it would work though, its mostly for 210 etc we used to do them a lot back in the day

Thanks man! Just wish you had found it prior, might have saved you some time. BTW The Chinese 5 prong relays worked like a charm and all the fogs work perfectly now.
