started tear down for paint

Had a bit of a scare last night, after I mounted the wheels. I drove it over to the grocery store to grab a few things and to take some shots (using the parking lot lights for lighting). But it sputtered over there, lights on the dash and such. Then it stalled in the parking lot and I had trouble starting it. The key wouldn't even budge in the lock cylinder. Fail.
Turns out that the battery terminals weren't tight enough! Fortunately, that was it, and I used the still present factory tool kit to sort that out. Now she purrs quite nicely, thank you very much! Looking forward to the 55 swap now. After that I think a secondary cat and resonator delete is in order.
Pictures, along with some of my C55 too. Note: C55 ride height is stock, love it! Both cars are quite dirty from rain water spots, but ah well. I think the C43 would be really set off with a roof spoiler, like ProjectC55's car.

What tire sizes do you run and are those the 18 by 8 ET 31 front and 18 by 9 ET 35 rears like mine??
Im trying to see how that spacer would benefit me
but I need to know if id rub because Im lowered Cars look great

I'm pretty sure my car isn't as low as yours, so you should measure everything carefully!

Doubly sad because the offset of the 18" Monoblocks is basically PERFECT, in my view. No poke, no 'hellaflush', but basically...'sortaflush'.
Looks great. The C55 is now too conservative! Hoping to rectify that with some spacres soon. Before they drove the car away, I shot a few pictures of the two AMGs after a slight rain. Everyone loves pictures of rain drops on cars, right?

looks so damn cool.
total difference to other flat Benz logos sold on this forum.
your's iz da best lookin' I've seen!
where do you get all these cool stuff?

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

The C43 does sit just perfect, I think the stance is just right. It's not 'stanced' but I'm good with that, it's low but practical low!
I want the C55 to look a bit lower up front too, but I'm not sure I want to lower it. Maybe just the wheel spacers and a front lip. Then time to start saving for the C63....I'm currently gathering gaskets and such in preparation for the 55 swap, should be done sometime next month, just need my holiday first...

Also noticed a couple of really annoyingly loud squeaks from the front suspension over large bumps at speed. Thought it was tire contacting the fenders, but it's not. Last time this happened, the control arm bolts weren't torqued to spec. I'm going to tighten them up tomorrow, see how it goes. I'm also tempted to remove the KMacs and go back to the stock camber bolts with OE bushings, but we'll see. That's a relatively involved job and it'll need a new alignment after.
Meantime, here's a shot for PJMak, no camera angling, car still dirty, but I. Can't. Get. Over. The. Stance.

Here's a teaser pic of things to come:

Playing around With the badge positioning, I like it here...

...but it'll probably end up here because the curvature of the moulding may not let the badge stick properly because the badge isn't that flexible:

Putting it on the moulding is less conspicuous, which I like, and also because it's the same place as on the Euro spec cars with the Sport or whatever badge is on there. Shame, but oh well.

1.) Sleeper, let everyone think it has the 4.2L, the look on their faces in your rear view mirror will be PRICELESS
2.) I think the only place it looks good is on the molding, if it doesn't fit I would pass
3.) It's a 5.4L and not a 5.5L (5439 cc) <------- this is the main reason I wouldn't put it on
Just my .02

At any rate, I doubt my parents will get into any races with it. I doubt it'll even see over 4500rpm in their hands...I'll have to 'exercise' the car once in a while. It will be a bit incongruous to see them roll up to dim sum in it, with my 94 year old grand father in the back...
It's like how I saw a Subaru BRZ the other day in the grocery store parking lot. Figured for sure it would be a 20something male. When I came back to my car, it was an old couple looked like in their 60s loading their groceries into the back!

Got home and it appeared that some fluid was cooking off on the exhaust pipes, so not engine related. Yesterday I got underneath the car and I figure the torque converter seal is leaking. I can see ATF seeping through between the bell housing and trans. Wipe it away and it comes back. Sigh.
As my friend said, it's a sign to get on with the swap. We were going to do it this past weekend, but it was supposed to be cold out, so we didn't. At that point, we decided to postpone to the spring or early summer. My buddy was actually thinking I should keep the 55 motor and swap it into a cheap CLk430 or something. But now with the leak, it has to be a sign that the swap has to come.
Whilst the torque converter seal was new last year, it must have gone through too much wear and tear with the engine and/or trans in and out three or four times. Boo.
Now it'll be time to park it and just wait...
