W or S
On a daily basis, do you guys drive in W or S? I was thinking that since heat is the failure is most trans that the best way to eliminate heat is to reduce friction from shifting (that is how we do it in bigger diesel trucks). So using W to start in second and shifting at lower RPM might just help prolong the trans.
ALSO, I have a Thule rack on the roof and NO MATTER what I do I cannot keep the thing from leaking. I have tried to move the feet in further on the bar or push them outwards. It only leaks in the front and of course falls right intot he seat bottom...IT'S KILLING ME!
Thanks in advance.

I like to drive in W. These engines have enough torque to do it comfortably and it's much more comfortable around town as the 1-2 gear change does occur a bit early. Then that way when you switch to S then it feels a whole lot better when you want to really want to get going.
It's not going to have much of an effect on trans temps, these boxes don't have overheating issues anyway.
Using W is a purely comfort thing for me.

+1 Around town and in traffic the W setting is great for smoother driving, but when needed a switch to S let's it rip

Jeez, I must be the odd one out. I take the 'W' and 'S' settings literally! Maybe because I actually do see the different seasons!
I even keep the car on S in the winter time, when the roads are clear.

I only use W when it is raining out, I dont drive my C43 in the snow..... I don't think W would help in the snow anyway

W is better to use when raining out. I used W in rain and snow when I had my W202. It did not help that much in snow. You can notice the differance thoue on dry roads if you do 0-60 test Start the car off in (W) Vs. (S) and you can see a pretty big differance.

Using W starts out in 2nd gear as well as shifts at lower RPM's in all gears..... there is a noticeable difference and I would imagine it does use less gas but if I wanted to conserve gas I wouldn't of bought my C43

I think I'll have to give this a try too! Anything to add to the comfort level when stuck in rush hour traffic deserves a try.

, but i thought i'd ask here since we were on the subject of W/S ... i leave my car in S all the time. my car doesnt feel very fast at all. no codes at the moment. would a malfunctioning W/S selector throw a code? just curious.
